My original point was to say that you can't just subtract points from our end of year total because Higuain scored in certain situations. It's very possible another striker would have scored as well. So you would be on the same points. It's possible a striker would score even more! It's possible another striker would score 2 or 3 goals less.
A goal against Napoli doesn't distract from a mediocre season. And I was always the first to defend Higuain last year. But his decline is obvious.
Dzekos time at City indeed is a good argument against him doing well for a top team. However 0 indication is too harsh, I can think of 3 arguments why Dzeko arguably would perform better than Higgy during the past 2 seasons:
1) He provided more goals and assists for his team during those 2 seasons
2) Higuain has been unable to form a lethal partnership with Dybala (of course, that's on Paolo too). Džeko, striker with a style more similar to Mandžukič (clearly is compatible with Dybala) than Higuan, hypothetically would compliment Paolo better
3) Ever since we sold Pogba and lost Claudio we have bad midfield play, Džeko is capable of being at the receiving end of high balls from defense, Higuain not so much. The moment Pjanič got injured in Cardiff the game was over because Higuain and Dybala were abused to the point they both started hiding. As witnessed this season, Dzeko keeps on going even when the dumbasses behind him fall 3 and 4 goals behind.
Sure, we're talking about a hypothetical situation and all the arguments are being pulled out of arse, but again, I don't think it's laughable to suggest that Džeko wouldn't deliver the way Higuain has or even better. Higuain is a WC striker, but so has been Dzeko lately

He missed a crucial penalty but he also scored one in the very same match. If you want me to list you elite players missing crucial penalties in much more important games it won't be hard. It has been on multiple occasions that any player can miss a penalty. Not worth denying it.
I can easily mention more of his extraordinary goals this season. The game against Milan at San Siro where he scored two outstanding goals outside the area. The goals against Atalanta in Bergamo when having a defender on his back he scored a torcher with his theoretically weaker left foot leaving the keeper with no chance or the one in Coppa when he brilliantly controlled a misplaced ball, run towards the goal from the halfline, skipped past a defender and coolly put the ball into the net showing how much he lacks pace and dribbling. Crucial goal against Inter recently giving us Scudetto in which he showed how he cannot score a header. I can really go on like this. And if you let me include the goals from last season... oh boy. Not to mention he has six assists in the league now.
Comparing Higua to Balotelli is just a confirmation that you're losing it. Not sure if it's worthwhile to go into that argument. To score a tap in isn't that easy as you make it be. First of all you need to find yourself in the right place in the right time. I would like to remind you that usually there are also defenders in the penalty area having exactly the opposite goal than the strikers. Finally, you need the technique and cool head to actually finish the action with a goal. Why Milan didn't hire some amateur athlete with very likely superior physicality instead of paying millions for and to Inzaghi?
