It's not about certainty. It's about giving yourself the best chance to reach a goal in mind. Juve had already won five scudetti and made the Champions League final but it was proclaimed repeatedly that Higuain would "take us to the next level". Higuain was bought to give the best chance of winning the Champions League. It's no different to PSG. You really think they're buying Neymar to assure themselves of the Ligue and a quarter final? They're trying to go all the way.
It's very different to PSG.

They don't sell their key players and have effectively made two signings that were well above the previous transfer record. They are a team that has a clear goal of winning the CL.

I honestly don't think that is our main objective. Of course we want to, and we want to build our team to be as good as it can be, but we always have one eye on the balance sheet. Our net spending proves as much over the past few years. Hitting the quarter final is the minimum target we set every year, we say this every season. I think we want to continue to grow financially to build a better team long term. Say what you like about our board but I don't think they are as short sighted to think that adding Higuain suddenly makes us a Champions League winning team. We needed a striker, we had money and Higuain was the best available player within our financial reach (incl wages) to sign, especially whilst weakening a rival.

If your sole aim is to win the Champions League, you do not sell top players every summer.

But we sell top players as we can't pay them wages they want

We already know Higuain was not an incredible move from our board without repeating same thing 1000000 times every minute again. You will watch him at least this season no matter like it or not.

Is someone seriously saying he would prefer Higuain to Griezmann for CF

There is no doubt that Griezmann is at least twice the player Higuain is, but the real question is whether Griezmann would have accepted a move here.
Yes someone who will never bring Higuain prefer all players include him on their favorite positions. Also Dybala can look better at 9 as I said I hate wasting potential if he can do much better as 10 like Griezmann can as a wing.

This. Psg have yet to sell ANY of their key 1st team players. We've sold one every fuckin season. They sold matuidi but that won't effect them when they have the midfield they do. Lets not forget, they went out and got a CF who can actually SCORE in EUROPE. Higuain is useless trash in europe, this is a known fact along e him choking in finals. The ONLY reason higuain will keep starting is bc of his insane price tag we paid for him...to think of ALL the players we coulda spent that pogba money on...we get an overweight flop in Europe who's turning 30... THIS is why we're the laughing stock of Europe

How is a professional footballer overweight at a level like this? Just kind of baffles the mind.

When someone is paying you 8mil a year basically just to be in shape and you aren't...

Goals in the CL:

Higuain (Real, Napoli, Juve) 68 games, 18 goals.

Cavani (Napoli, PSG) 45 games, 27 goals.

We need a EUROPEAN quality striker before we will win CL

Correction, how is he allowed to be this big

Whats even more baffling is how a team paid 90mil for a player in that kind of shape.
No sense crying over spilt milk

the only hope we have of getting rid of him is Arsenal realizing they need to spend more to win the EPL, and go for this hack thinking he will improve them. no other "top" team will be stupid enough to sign him

I find it hard believe that he isn't being told off by team's fitness staff over this. Was he overweight before coming here? I don't remember him looking like this at Nipples

You are being way too harsh, he just needs to get in good shape, he's a monster of a Cf
He's had plenty of time to get in shape. Mofo makes a shitload of money to look like that fucking drunk uncle with his huge beer belly. Shit is disrespectful.

I thought he turned a page after his 30 goal season with Napoli. I felt he improved his technique so there's no looking back now and the money spent was going to deliver a CL trophy. But after seeing his CL ko stage performance last season, I am not even willing to give him a chance against a top european club again. Still expect him to score plenty in Serie A, and hope Allegri limits his appearances in CL in favour of a mid or winger.
