Goals in the CL:

Higuain (Real, Napoli, Juve) 68 games, 18 goals.

Cavani (Napoli, PSG) 45 games, 27 goals.

We need a EUROPEAN quality striker before we will win CL
Sure but nobody is going to score many goals for us in a CL final when we spend 80% of the game in our own half. Our entire approach to the biggest games needs to be overhauled before 1 CF makes a difference.

I dont think Higuain`s problem is the CL even if the numbers say so..
I think the problem is that he is not the Napoli player he was the one that broke the scoring record.
The truth is we signed him and he was great at first but then became heavy and slow

It's not about certainty. It's about giving yourself the best chance to reach a goal in mind. Juve had already won five scudetti and made the Champions League final but it was proclaimed repeatedly that Higuain would "take us to the next level". Higuain was bought to give the best chance of winning the Champions League. It's no different to PSG. You really think they're buying Neymar to assure themselves of the Ligue and a quarter final? They're trying to go all the way.
You're right, they did say that the Higuain signing was designed to take us to the next level. Ultimately, a CL title is always a goal for Juventus. However, we did make it to the final, which was further than we had made it the season before, so that is up a level (and while we would have liked more, he was still our top scorer in CL).

However, as far as the idea of reaching the goal in mind, management have always stated that the primary goal was a 6th consecutive scudetti, and history. They have never deviated from the stated goal of that being objective #1, as far as I can recall. Never heard them say primary goal was CL in any press release.

As for PSG, at this point that club is just not comparable to us in terms of expenditures. Spending 400M+ euros on the transfer fees for 2 players is absolutely obscene. And yes, they do want the CL, but it's about much more than that for them. They lost Zlatan, didn't win the title last year, and it looked like they were in danger of losing Veratti. They looked like they were reverting to a club that might not be able to draw top players to them. Yes, they'd like to win the CL, but they also want to be a major brand in world football -- and it was starting to look like they might be taking a step back in that regard. Spending the cash on those players was at least as much about the image of the club being a top draw/marketable brand as it was about winning the CL, imo. And of course, yes, ultimately they want to win the CL like all big clubs do.

The offer of bags and bags of cash can sure make a team pretty darn desirable for players. FFP is a joke.

I don't get , how the fuck you are allowed to be so fat , why Juve aren't forcing him into fitness regime!

He should not start unless he loses at least 5kg .

His weight is an easy target, but I don't think it's the problem really. He's been just as fat (or even fatter) the past two seasons, but still teared shit up.

And he will still score 25 + this season too , but that doesn't matter , it's like buying Lambo but not being able to drive more than 80km/h it's pointless .

He'll score 25+ because of his instinct for the goal , but in Europe you need to be in great shape, only his instinct isn't enough, he MUST lose at least 5kg !

Its visibly there so is easy thing to pick on when he is off but it's not the reason he is off form.

They bought him for 94m and train him weekly. Don't you think if they taught it was about him being fat, too unfit, unprofessional out of shape or what not, it would already been remedied? Why do you think that is?

This is the player he has evolved to past 3 years, he has become bigger in size and plays as a robust all around power forward who specializes on instinctive well ranged finishing and holds off defenders more. He is not the lean dynamic, quick 2nd forward counter attacking type he was in his younger days. Adjusted his game to this less explosive but more complete CF he is now.

Can he lose more weight? Sure. But exactly what do you expect that to do to his game? If anything he will be less able to bulldoze defenders around the box using his size, while its doubtful if he will suddenly become quicker again for it.

It's undeniable he has been at his most lethal ability wise while in this shape he has been now. So what exactly are you asking for him to be? A player he isn't?

I don't think his weight is the problem, he has some mental block in CL.

Dunno, I think he got considerably bigger the summer we signed him, this Higuain and the one at Napoli duriing the record season look very different to me

He was considerably leaner at napoli I do feel he is in better shape than he was at beginning of last season but his confidence seems to be down
