How can you sit there and say you cannot stand Jan Koller?
Oh come on, is there really a likeable player in Germany ;)

@Rover: My guess is Nedved or Buffon. It will go to Juve anyways

Patrick Kluivert (Netherlands - Barcelona, Spain)
Jan Koller (Czech Republic - Borussia Dortmund, Germany)
Michel Salgado (Spain - Real Madrid, Spain)
Paul Scholes (England - Manchester United, England)
David Trezeguet (France - Juventus, Italy)
Sylvain Wiltord (France - Arsenal, England)
:wth: I don't understand why these players were nominated.

The winner of the Golden Ball will be Gigi, Maldini or Nedved. Any of those 3 and it will be fair.

Anyways looking at that list , its just annoying when instead fo form and true contributions we get star quality and tributes to big teams cos if i was to choose, noone in Barcelona deserves a mention
I don't like Gatusso as a player at all but he does deserve to be there
Rangers won the treble and no matter what you think of the league someone like Arteta deserves a mention at least, Celtic got to the final of Uefa cup and someone like Hartson does deserve to be there ahead of some players

Its a disgrace that Shearer is not on that list while Kluivert, Figo even Aimar who just flatters to decieve is there as he started well and faded badly like the rest of Valencia last season and he definitely had a better season than Owen

To be fair I think he has been excellent this season and towards the end of last season, the howler should actually be for Figo cos he has done bugger all for Real madrid
But aint is funny that Trezeguet is there as lets be honest he has not had a good year at all while Zola was brilliant and he is not there
Still, he is usually considered an average player and he's definitely the one to receive the most abuse at the RM forum, so I found it amusing to see his name on the list.

I was gonna add him as well and lets be honest not even Toldo should be there as Cudicini , Friedel, and Frey imo have had better seasons

I know it's a load os nonsense but French soccer magazine France Football announced the following list of 50 nominees for the Golden Ball award:-
i think the list looks pretty good. except for a few like Wiltord, Kluivert and Trezeguet.
I'd probibly put Giggs, Zola and Adriano instead.

No one can discuss Zambrotta's qualities. I think the surprise is that since the list is made by France Football, and Zambrotta is not that considered outside of Italy, it's a very nice surprise that critics are noticing him.
You could be right, I don't know any french or spansih people. But considering that he played great in both the World cup and Champions league he should be known.

Well objectively Toldo had a good season last year, but I bet this nomination arrived thanks to just one match....Valencia. If he had not done so well i nthat match, he would have been overlooked.
