Did we have a defender playing that good in last 20 years? Maybe Barzagli at some point, but damn this guy is a wall. He is bullying everyone, no matter if it's Lukaku. Really impressive. Hopefully he can keep this up, in this form he is easily op 3 defender in the world.

Facing Haaland(City) would be a big test

We haven't played opponents like City in quite a while

And he doesn't have a place in the Brazilian starting eleven.

All of Chiellini, Barzagli, and Bonucci. They all had incredible seasons when they could each argue to be the best CB in the world.

In my memory he always had a hard time against small and tricky players, which Bremer doesn't have, thanks to his speed. I find Barzagli In his prime a better defender than Cheillini overall. Andrea was a wall back then.
Andrea was a great defender, no doubt but his best years were in a 3 man backline with Chiellini and Bonucci. These guys complemented each other well. Chiellini could play in 4 at the back. I have my doubts about Barzagli in that role. He was kinda slow. Some players didnt suit Giorgo but some players dont suit Bremer either, Osimhen destroyed him few years ago. Bremer is yet to be tested at the highest level while Chiellini was regularly standing out against some of the best attacks in Europe.

I appreciate how gentelmanly he is as a defender. he's not dirty like ramos, rudiger or chiellini.

he's just a proper defender with no tricks needed.

I swear some fans here just have at times the dumbest and most short sighted takes you’ll ever get to read anywhere else, even posters that usually are well balanced and don’t usually talk nonsense still end up slipping one way or another.

I absolutely like Bremer and consider him untouchable but can’t believe i’m reading Bremer is a much better defender than Chiellini based on a sample size vs a utterly average Genoa side or a washed up Lukaku… Chiellini is probably one of the most dominant CB’s i’ve ever seen play, a total pain in the ass for the opposition, he’d use all the experience and tricks in the book to keep at bay consistently some of the best attacking players in the world, and did it for well over a decade, no matter the formation.

And keep in mind this was a 37yo Chiellini recently back from an ACL injury, just to make a point, but there’s been plenty of similar dominant performances by him in a Juve shirt too, especially in many of the most high pressure games we’ve encountered over the years.
