My argument isn't rooted in tribalism, it's rooted in reality. Club football is a global business nowadays. International football is based on nationality. That much is clear. If you're not Italian, you don't share anything with their culture or their people, so there isn't a reason to support the Azzurri. It is that simple.

When Italy won the World Cup in 2006, it was a win for their nation, not anyone else's. Your mistake is that you are trying to cloud the reality of what international and club football is based on. The whole "region" argument is void anyway considering Juve has always had a lot of support from Southern Italy.

Duh! Obviously the region argument doesn't work, it's your own argument just extended. You don't even make an effort to understand other POVs, all you are interested in is spewing your own. It's just ridiculous, how is international football NOT a global business? TV rights for the World Cup and Euros are expensive and in incredibly high demand, t shirts are sold every day from different countries (and no, not only italians get Azurri shirts and not only Brazilians get Brazil kits), people from all over the world want to see who's the best in an international setting as well. How is it not a global business? How is it not possible to garner affection for a team other than your own in this setting? It might not be your own national team, and quite obviously is not the same as if your own team won it, but real affection for a team does develop and plenty of people follow what the team does. I watch Serie A every weekend, how is it not possible to have at least some sort of interest over the Azurri as well?

You aren't getting it. You don't need to be from a particular region to play for a club. Regions don't matter. Nationality doesn't matter. Have you ever heard of Krasic before? How about Sorensen? How about Melo? Are they Italians? No. Are they playing club footie in Italy? Yes. While on the other hand, the Azzurri is comprised solely of Italians. That is simply the way it is. If you don't like that fact, then support your own nation or don't watch international football at all.
