roots are roots you can't do nothing about it, the mere place where you were born is of a lesser importance. i was born in sarajevo but i'm living in zagreb for as long as i know myself. even though i have mixed backgrounds, my parents both are bosnian. i'd always consider myself a bosnian because of that, even if i wasn't born there but here in croatia. you simply can't go against your heritage.

rossi was born in usa but he's italian, everything about him is italian, starting with his name. it doesn't matter that he was born in the usa since his parents obviously have not left their roots behind them and further passed their heritage on to their son. rossi's first word was most likely in italian not american. what i'm trying to say is it doesn't matter where you were born, it's the enviroment you were born in and lived in that matters. you still have to love and respect the country you live in, like i do with croatia, but you must never leave your roots behind and rossi playing with america would mean that imo.

andy, you're probably born and raised in america so i don't think you understand how it feels to be a stranger in ones country, it takes more than a few generations to be fully accepted by that country to be called a true american, italian or whichever, take my word on that, roots don't go away so easily. you gotta understand rossi's decision.

Spot on.. I'v been living in denmark since i was 5 but i dont even feel 5% danish!! never will!!

No one is saying Juventus shouldn't sign him, only that it's a risk to take, that he's an unproven youngster and that Juventus might not be in the best position to take risks right now.

He is a very good player and anyone who has seen him properly will tell you that. His movement is terrific, and his touch and awareness are terrific, the only problem is that he is small, other than that he is very good and if he develops properly he will become a n excellent player
How are you doing Sateeh?
good to see you back, Dennis

Cant see why some of you here takes some of the pissed off americans seriously with their illogical arguments.

No matter anyone says, only you know what you are and define yourself as. Its not like Rossi's case is like with Argentinians who lived in Argentina for several generations, and choose Italy as career choice(like many others when they are rejected by their home country and choose the country they play in). Rossi is as Italian as Vieri is Italian(grew up in Aussie). Geography doesnt define you even if may grow in you in time as you live in that culture.

What you are raised as and your family are what defines you, what you feel like. And Rossi's parents moved to the US as adults it seems, and had a child there, that child is american by nationality and may feel for that country in part(he proberly loves it, just not as much), but its different from individual to indivdual(some may prefer their adopted country)...and in Rossi's case, he feels more italian and he is italian. Just as I'm more Somali(havent been there in 16 years) then swedish(my siblings who are born here also feel more somali) even if I love sweden, and lived here for a long time.

I'm pretty sure the germans didnt call Nuri Sahin a traitor and all kinds of childish names because he choose his country of origin Turkey(like many other turks has done). And Sahin has spent more time in germany(his entire football schooling) then Rossi has in the US. But its proberly because Germany arent as desperate to cling on to whatever talent as the US is.

P.S How is Rossi suppose to show his appriciation for the US football? He made a choice where he was honest with himself in Italy, other then that...how has he disrespected or disgraced US? Its not like anyone has interview him and he disowned his adopted country.

There's quite a few here who don't want him playing for Juventus. I understand it's a little risky putting hope on a youngster. But if we don't, Inter or AC Milan will. I can guarantee that.

How's that possible? Rossi has played like 1,5 proffesional games.
Ehm, ManU friendlies and Newcastle? unfortunately I'm a football addict, without access to many of Juve's games, I try to watch anyteam in Black and White :D

He watched him often in Football Manager, LOL.

Seriously, he played 11 games for Newcastle, how is that not possible?
Thank you mark, and yes, I have been sending various scouts to keep me updated on Rossi, unfortunately I have just signed Torres so I think I'll only make a move for him next summer.

IMO 11 appearances is enough to get known with the player´s potential.
    Its enough to impress.

That's what I think hurts them the most.

    just a clarification....

Vieri was born in Bologna, and went to Australia when he was 7 or 8, and returned to Italy before he was a teenager

good to see you back, Dennis
Thank you very much Vincent. How are you doing? To be fair i just used to come on here and read some of your posts and others out of sheer boredom just leave as there was just nothing to add. Pretty miffed that british europsort stopped showing serieB as i would have used that opportunity to post reports on the games but there you go. Amazing how this forum has deteriorated with threads dedicated to players like leggrotaglie, bojinov, marchionni, zanetti and the most laughable boumsong. Oh come on, even Boumsong's immediate family must be secretly laughing at his ineptitude. To the thread here, i fail to see how Rossi's heritage has got anything to do with whether the boy can play or not

life over here is good, thanks for asking !!

The forum definitely misses your post-match comments, and I'm pretty shocked that British Eurosport stopped carrying the games (they only showed the first 2 or so)

The only saving grace for us in the states is that RAI International shows all of Juve's home games...otherwise, I'm scrambling to find a stream on the computer (check the match threads before gametime for possible streams to the games)

I've missed a few games this season, and its pretty disappointing going from watching all the games to only seeing a little more than half...it brings back bad memories of a few seasons back, when I was only able to see one game a month, because only RAI International showed Serie A here, and alternated teams every week

Hopefully, we'll bounce back to A next season, and being able to watch wont be a problem

definatly a risky transfer, he hasnt played a lot at a 1st team level and his career has not really taken off as much as i would have thought over the past year.

however, i have been impressed when i have seen him, he has great movement and a good touch! our new Del Piero???? :p

Arturo Lupoli may be a good option too he is a good young italian forward and is free. but i agree defence is most definatly the priority!!!!

He is a great dribbler from that video and his shooting is quite good though his one on one is not the best, his descisions are not the best and he seems a bit selfish

Rossi is untouchable. or still untouchable. I think that Manu will make with him and Rooney a new Forward Line for the future. and they will scary all the defense like now Barca is doing. And Rossi will be benched in Juve. Don't forget. We are Juve. and we don't play with a lot of youngsters. And Palladino is our rising star...
