Alex Sandro was a great signing, I was really surprised and happy when it happened. Clear cut top LB in the world right now and for many years to come.
As I said, he did some good things. Mandzukic as a rotation player is OK to me, but not with this big player status. Actually the poor management is more on Allegri than on Marotta. Allegri is the one who seems to have to play Mandzukic at any cost.

Only an idiot would call Mandzukic a bad transfer. 1 of 11 players in Europe with 20+ goals each of the last 3 seasons. Won a CL with Bayern as a starter, scoring in the final. Has scored 5 goals for us already, including the Supercoppa winner, and a goal in each game against ManCity, our two biggest games of the year so far. And all this, while dealing with injury troubles in an out-of-form team.
Calling Mandzukic an undisputedly good transfer is pretty stupid.
We have a top CF in the grooming and he should be used at his position as a starter. A big part of Morata's struggles has to do with him being displaced on the pitch.
Mandzukic is a good player and transfer fee was OK. But it's for a position already covered. Resources would better go to other positions, taking into account his high salary.

It's silly to compare it to Hernanes and Zaza. But I'm a big fan of Morata.
To me, you play Morata as a CF all these games Mandzukic was the CF, and Morata does better.
You play Dybala or Cuadrado all these games Allegri wasted Morata on the wing displacing him for Mandzukic, and these guys do better than Morata.
It's as is simple as that. Mandzu is a good player and transfer fee was fair, but his playing style doesn't really suits the team and, mostly important, does no good to one of our top players and a fundamental piece for the future, Morata.
I just prefered Marotta spend the money at another position.
