Moutinho, Kovacic, Tielemans, Inler, Alonso, Xavi, Gundogan there are many options.
You can spend big on someone like Moutinho and make him compete for the starting position with marchiso. Chisio could also deputize for Pogba or Khedira. Plenty of time for all.
You can spend but not as big on a very young prospect like Tielemans and use him as Marchisio's sub. As a non-starter you can ease him in and he wont have to deal with insane pressure and could be a long term solution for the problem. Overpaying for him to get him to come now is not a bad idea in my opinion.
You can spend peanuts and get a veteran like Alonso or Xavi as a very short term solution until something better opens up.
You can spend a small amount to get someone like Inler who would be okay with a sub role and knows how to distribute.
Again, a vice marchiso doesn't have to be the second coming of Pirlo. He just needs to reliably pass the ball around, find his team mates when they need him and be good at organizing the midfield. As things stand, Marchisio gets injured and we get screwed again an return to the disconnected midfield of earlier in the season or at least pogba would have to be dropping deep next to fucking hernanes.
Same thing if Dybala gets injured.

Players I highlighted cost even 40 million euro. I'm not sure if we can afford a starter worth that much let alone a player for position where we already have Marchisio. Having such a good players competing for one position is utopian in my view and no club does that. Of course, there might be exeptions but they are only confirming the rule. I think currently Lemina is our vice Marchisio and I'm fine with that.
I agree that we lack more creative type of forward. Maybe Marotta wasn't expecting that Coman will want to leave at the end of mercato.

There's clear difference between commenting and bashing though. Placing yourself in position to call someone an amateur when in fact your credential are questionable to say at least (not aimed at you btw) is preposterous. I can make plenty of comments. I can comment on Allegri persistently benching Dybala, or Marotta spending 18m on Zaza, but calling that an amateur approach or lack of vision, is absurd.
Why? From your perspective when you defend a policy or an action do you appeal to the manager's authority and resume as the reasons for your position or is it because you have reasons (independent of Marotta's credentials) that you take to show that this or that policy is good? I think probably you hold your positions because you think you have reasons other than credentials on which you base your opinions. Its the same for me, Zach, and most people on this forum.
We judge a policy based on reasons that we take to justify our position. You can show me that my reasons are not good reasons or that they don't support my conclusion and I can do the same for you. Thats why we debate these issues after all, we look at each others' arguments for our respective positions and we try to convince each other of our point. We can differ on our evaluation of players, coaches, tactics, transfers everything. You can criticize Mourinho for whats happening at Chelsea even if his resume trumps probably that of any other coach. You can criticize some specific deals that barca did that were a waste of money even if in total their directors are more successful than anyone else in the world.
From my perspective marotta did good individual deals (except zaza) but failed to prioritize given that we ended up with no vice-marchisio, and no vice-dybala and somewhat of a surplus of ball winners and left backs in the squad. I gave my reasons for that position plenty of times. If you appeal to his credentials as your objection then that doesn't really address my reasons nor does it address whether my reasons support my conclusion or not. If you appeal to his credentials then you take that as the grounds for your position which I don't think you want to do. You probably think its a good move even if Secco or anyone with less credentials had done it.

Like I've stated above I have no issue when people criticize certain move, but mocking and being disrespectful like the guy above has been constantly doing is laughable and doesn't deserve serious response. State your reasons, present arguments, but also bear in mind that Beppe has been our GM for 5 years now, which is not coincidental.
As for the last part of your post I disagree. We needed LB, since Evra is 34 yo and Sandro was great opportunity. Too great to miss and doubt he was the reason we didn't get Gotze, Draxler, etc.... We'd be kicking ourselves later on.
