It's easy to get that bad rep when you are put in a position where your play is limited, think Marchisio. Sturaro is easy to label as a workhorse midfielder because he is tough and combative, but he's obviously got more to his game going forward.
I understand the club wanting to hold onto him since his career with us just started, but unlike Rugani, if it came down to it, I would sacrifice him for a superior player like Hamsik or any other quality AM, based on what I seen of him so far.
Its still early days. But it would be more preferable if his defensive toughness and combativeness was more of a useful impact in terms of actual good and needed performances when he gets the chance, then the occasional offensive skill and plays you dont expect of CM/DMs anyways. Thats the main reason why I generally say this guy so far hasnt done anything worth hyping yet, until he shows he can put in the solid ground work that makes him a force to reckoned with in his main task, make his prensence felt. So far he seems to be just filling in the numbers and doing ok, and little else. And I mean all his performances for us so far, just not the Roma game, tho its extra dissapointing in a game where we already had a limited passenger like Padoin, that he didnt put in an extra shift that was needed performance wise.
I like Juve to focus on young italian talents, and have been watching Azzurrini games for long time mainly due to our younger players throughout past decade (90% procent dissapointment rate in the end, stopped paying less attention after Marchisio-Gio generation lol)). And seeing this guy for Italy in occasion, prior to that but especially last U-21 championship, what I saw, IMO it will be very suprising if turns out to be anything more then above average fringe/squad player. He was really suffering to stand out in games of that level. Especially awful in the first game.
Hope I'm proven wrong and club see something extra in him. In his defense, he hasnt been particularly hyped anyways, so he is there to be a decent midfield choice. But its sink or swim at this level, more so depending on what his aspirations are, so he will compete quite directly with Lemina for minutes most probably, so he risks being sidelined/forgotten down the line if he doesnt take the chance that opened up with Vidals absence.
