Btw does that really matter? Both sides could blocked the move. Either Vidal only wanted us or Juve didn't want to sell... Wouldnt be the first time. In the end the Bayern opportunity came and I guess both parties were happy. Juve didn't want to extend his contract for a total of 5 years with high wages. Vidal took his chance for a big and long contract for a team that maybe has also a bigger chance to win the cl
Right decision imho, you'd have 33 yo Vidal on 5m salary per season. That would be how Milan or Inter operate.

"We bring in 3 good-to-excellent players.
We lose 3 players who want to move on."

Sounds like we acquired Tevez, Vidal and Pirlo and lost Vitale, Rubinho and Marrone.

Language is a funny thing isn't it? ;)
Everyone knows the players we lost and how good they were. By no means was I trying to suggest we lost scrubs. We lost a world class player in Tevez, a world class player in Vidal (he certainly had returned to world class by the end of the season), and a "washed-up" Pirlo (in the words of 99% of this form. Ironically Zizinho and I were two of the only members advocating keeping him for this year).

We brought in a very good player in Dybala who certainly has potential to become world class. We brought in a fantastic player in Mandzukic, just under that world class level. And we took an excellent market opportunity in signing Khedira who is another very good player. Plus a decent Zaza for the bench.

So as things stand, we're certainly looking a little weaker. But add a good-excellent young treq with potential to grow even further and I'd say the team is different for next year, but not much weaker. If we sign a good young LB also. Well. As I said, it's wait and see. Anything else is ridiculous.

We are weaker, unless dybala immediatly explodes.

We are better, if we'd get gotze, and khedira performs as expected.

If Götze and Dybala perform good, we could probably see another calciopoli attempt

Where's the dispute then? We both agree Vidal agreed terms beforehand, his agent informed Marotta, who asked for confirmation (player expressed his desiree to move according to Marotta) and went to make a deal.
I don't know, you quoted me joking that there's people that were in the meeting room with the parties involved or something like that. I just based what I said on the transcripts.

My disagreement is that we should not sell Vidal at all. Not a good time. Maybe it could be time for a new contract offer.

But if you have to sell him, you do it properly - shop him around to get a bigger price, go find an AM and only then you close the deal. This takes time. Do it on your terms, otherwise no deal.

It's not how it happened, given how fast it was. The only pending thing is his examination apparently.

And we are running the risk of actually not finding a good AM to be signed right now. The opportunity might no be there. And if it happens, the Vidal deal becomes really bad.

In Marrotta's defence, I don't think he will let a situstion arise where we start the season without an AM.
Sure he can get an AM. But I don't know about the right AM. The good ones are few and are not available, apparently - Oscar, Isco, Ozil, Firmino gone, Coutinho too pricey, De Bruyne also too expensive.

Let's see about Gotze.

Draxler is too young, injury plagued and not established to be considered a solution for the position. He's more of a gamble than anything else.

The main condition to sell Vidal, imo, is not the price, but finding the right AM. If this guy can't be bought this summer (because, you know, we already spent 18M in Zaza, the 4th striker), you do everything within your means to keep Vidal.

What about Fekir. Is he an AM? Good enough to be worth 40M?

Injury plagued is usually reserved for those who are consistently injured year in, year out.

The number of matches he played the previous three seasons before last year

oh come on how silly is this scenario, vidal tells marotta he wants to leave, beppe packs his bags for germany then double checks again if vidal really wants to leave, then flies off to germany. reeks of bullshit.
Almost as silly as your theory that he flew to Germany just to sell a player :D
