Personally I think we had deals agreed with both of those players, but they and their agents aren't stupid, they dragged it on waiting for better offers and they came. Then we end up scrapping around trying to find a replacement.
Sure, we could go all in and break the bank and wage structure and offer players €150,000 p/w plus (like they currently earn), and we'll have short term success. But then we'll be selling Vidal and Pogba a couple of years down the line to stay afloat.
