That's an interesting mixture of ultra negativity and lies.
:D

Not a fan of Marotta, but I have to admit he has done fairly well. He has met expectations, he deserves an extension and I think he'll get it. I won't be losing any sleep if he gets replaced by someone better though (who that person will be, I've no freaking clue).

Enlighten me, you know that Bozzo was the one negociating Anelka's deal.

You think that we would've one last year Scudetto with Del Neri as a coach ?
I don't think any of us Marotta appreciators think he should take as much credit for the Scudetto victories as Conte.

But he should obviously be given some credit for the work he has done for the club, and for pretty much achieving (and exceeding) the expectations of the club over the past 3 seasons.

I love the people who bring up the Quag for 15M and Matri for 18M bullshit.

Context is a bitch, isnt it?

I don't think anyone here believes Marotta is the sole cause for our success. Not even his most ardent supporters believe that, not even when some of us were trolling with The Society-stuff. My own agenda with this whole Marotta-thing has just been to point out that he deserves a significant amount of credit for our success due to some of the best transfers in recent Serie-A history (Pirlo, Vidal, Barzagli, Pogba and Lichtsteiner in particular), and also to pose the following question to the haters; who would you rather want in his place? None of you have been able to provide a well-reasoned answer to that question.
Like I said J, he's done as much good as he has done bad. Not to argue about this but my personal belief is that Pirlo was a great deal in hindsight, at the time of signing him it didn't look like a smart deal. If anyone here thinks we were signing the Barzagli we've seen the last two seasons for 500k, then they are wrong. Barzagli came in as a sub for Legrotagglie, and was never intended to be a starter if you remember the context of that deal. It was when Marrotta glaringly failed to sign a cb after the entire Alves saga that close season, that Conte used Barzagli as a starter. I think Pogba's situation too was one that was aggravated by Raiola being his agent brokering a deal that made it easier for us more than Marrotta pulling of a scoop.

I don't want to take anything away because all these deals turned out to be great for better or worse. But my point is, he's been as glaring in his errors. Even last season, we needed an Lwb and CF but we ended up with a makeshift Lwb in Asamoah after a Conte experiment and Bendtner as CF. your question about who should replace him is a pertinent one. And I don't disregard the work he has done, but he's not the best one out there. We are talking about Marrotta after three seasons at Juve and saying who would replace him? My answer would be anyone else that we'd consider before we hired Marrotta. At the time of hiring him, Sabatini, Corvino and Marino and done work that was just as good or as bad. The only diff is Marrotta got the break at Juve, though for me he wasnt neccessarily the best of the lot that was hired. Pretty much the same yardstick that applies now.

According to the media, we're agreeing terms left, right & center with big names, but end up losing all of them because we don't want to spend an additional million when necessary. Surely, that must really be happening then.

You want to know what's really happening (Marotta has admitted as much, more than once): someone interesting becomes available (Van Persie or Aguero are recent examples) & we inform ourselves about the entire cost. It's too much & we walk away.
And after we have already walked away, media, "informers" & fans keep talking about that player for 2 months, refusing to accept it's not happening.
Are you saying we were never interested in Aguero and RvP and Marrotta himself admitted that one of his biggest regrets was not signing RvP coz he couldn't agree on the 30m fee with Arsenal? I don't know why we initiated those discussions in the first place since the club doesn't have the money to be going after those players. Is Marrotta delusional enough t think he will get an Aguero or RvP for less wages they are currently on when he's beginning a discussion with them?

If we walked away on just hearing the price tag of RvP, then how come we didn't have enough time to recover and look for a backup? Why did the situation become so desperate that we ended up with Bendtner?

If we walked away after knowing the price of the player, would you deny DiMarizio's reports or Fergie talking about how we agreed/came close to agreeing personal terms with the player? Is because we were genuinely interested in him. You're talking about a world level quality player here. Everybody knows they will come at a price.

We offered 30m for freaking Jojo who while a good player is nowhere near WC quality at this point. So how do we claim we don't have money to pay for them and Marrotta is completely absolved of the blame while the media, fans and 'informers' take a hit?

Del neri had a better resume then conte before joining juventus.

However, he failed at a big club, where as marotta was very succesfull in the task he was given

- get back to CL quarters
- win the serie a

He should leave, he didn't do anything exceptionnel, Conte was Agnelli decision as stated by Conte himself.
He Brought Del Neri and we finished 7, the year after it was all Conte, we were winning games with the same players that finished 7 in several occasions, we also benifited from the shit state of Serie A. Face it, we have no competition in Serie A.
Whenever he buys, he overpays, 15mil for Quag, 18 for Matri, 7.5 for Giac, 36 for Asamoah and Isla.........
He can't sell for shit, he has shady ties with Bozzo ( he's the one negociating the deals now  ) half the players we signed are his clients.
Last summer he's done nothing to deal with the team weakness. ( CF and LB ), he went to sign some players that we didn't need, and altough he admitted publicy that we were negociating with some WC players we always end up with not the second option but the 5th option.

Either you have trouble reading or I have trouble posting.

Marotta early on confirmed that we walked away from a potential Van Persie deal. Of course, you won't believe that. But you'll believe it when Marotta says it's his biggest regret that he couldn't sign him. That's fair enough.
As to why we didn't sign anyone else, I don't know. Sadly, I wasn't consulted in this matter. Nor am I aware of what the real (key word here) possibilities on the market were for us.
We ended up with Bendtner because it was & still is a no risk deal. His arrival hasn't improved us, nor has it weakened us.

Again, I know we were interested in those players at a certain point in time. And at another, later, point in time we walked away. Again, feel free to believe random rumours & informers, no need to look at how the situations played out in real life.

We offered 30m for freaking Jojo who while a good player is nowhere near WC quality at this point. So how do we claim we don't have money to pay for them and Marrotta is completely absolved of the blame while the media, fans and 'informers' take a hit?
I haven't seen the official documents were we offered 30 million in cash to Fiorentina. Perhaps you have, feel free to show them. But if not, I'll continue to treat this for what it is: a rumour.

I didn't know that 2 = several. And I also didn't know that Marotta was here for 2009-2010 when they finished 7th. Oh that's right, he wasn't.

If you are going to go off on a semi coherent tangent, at least get your facts straight.

You're cute when you're angry :D

Say what you will about the whole RVP situation, but 30 million is an awful lot to spend on a 29 year old on the last year of his contract. Can we all agree on that, at least? Whether they SHOULD have spent it is another issue entirely. I'm just referring to my first point.

:D Sergio homie.

We finished 7 the first season with Marotta, and my point that last year team wasn't good enough to win the title and i'm sure that any coach other than Conte wouldn't get that team to win it also don't forget that Serie A is really mediocre.
I've never denied that Marotta did a good job on a couple of deals but the way i see it his shortcomings outweigh his pros. And i think that we are in a critical state ATM, several of our best players are past their primes, Buffon, Pirlo, Vucinic and soon Barzagli will join. We should be very smaty with the way we buy so we could be sure to strenghten the team with the idea to have a proper replacement for these players when they'll be finished.

PS: how about the NBA playoffs ? :p

On the last point, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Not to sound like a broken record, but I have been trying to champion the cause for rebuilding the youth pipeline. Now, say what you will about the shortcomings of Marotta, of which there are a few. Even I as a supporter of him, am very quick to point that out. However, one of the things that he and Paratici have done very well, in my opinion, is rebuilding the youth pipeline, with the likes of Leali, Masi, Baokye, Gabbiadini, and etc, etc. Will they all pan out? I don't know that, but at least they are making a legitimate attempt at it. Something that the two previous regimes had neglected for a while.

Now, you say that the 2011-2012 team wouldn't have been good enough to win the title without COnte. Are we sure about that? Keep in mind the players that were brought in. Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Vucinic, Caceres. Do you think that the team at the very least wouldn't have made a significant improvement over the 2010-2011 version?

And don't talk to me about the playoffs. All hope that I had went down the drain when Kobe tore his achilles.

Here, that's actually what I'm holding against him. He always says that after we fail to sign a star player we've been linked to (why should we be even linked to the players that we can certainly not afford? It's not all media bullshit. We make moves or we at least show the we are interested while we know ourselves that such players are out of our reach due to the heavy competition and insane spenders). That's useless and that brings in disappointment.
Spot on. That's why I used to dislike him.

He likes to talk about Suarez, Higuain and RVP and after he fails miserably blames it on the wages and transfer fee like he was expecting they would cost as much as Bentnder.

This is the only thing i dont like about marotta. He's to open about the players he wanted to sign. Then, when a financial impossible situation arises due to other teams outbidding us, we deal with dissapointment.

On the other side, after a while, you get to learn to dislike oilteams, and understand marotta. dont worry ;)

Yeah when all the talk about RVP was around I was getting excited, then we got bendtner instead,

I guess it did teach me something, to never give my hopes up on a signing, but I did it with berba, and many others so I will never learn
