Ok Boz, let's start at things that we officially know.

Marotta had funds to make a big name signing ever since we were chasing Dzeko, we were hoping for a deal of around 30m no? Where did that money go? We were ready to pay around the same sum and maybe more for Aguero and that was AFTER we made most of our buys. Aguero didnt happen, where did that money go? Well saving it for the next mercato to get someone better i guess.

Marotta made it clear and we DID go for targets like Cavani and Jojo and RVP and this too AFTER we made our other buys. So while Marotta had money for each mercato and he has been saving a chunk each time he goes for a borrifag instead of a aguero and goes for a bendtner instead of a Cavani and he carries (at least half?) of what he was supposed to spend. Where did that money go?

You guys make it sound like Juve is a poor club. If athletico fucking madrid can buy Falcao cant we even do a little less than that?

I get it, serie A is in deep shit right now and no top player can be attracted. What about Jojo and Cavani? They already are here and one of them was even happy to arrive at Juve. What happened? Cant attract players to Juventus anymore even from within the Serie A?

Woody,i love you...but you honestly think that we are 1 top striker away from challenging for the CL? honestly?

I said possibly and yes i think the only thing our squad really lacks is one WC quality forward. Sure our wings are shit but conte makes the team work and i think if drop eye can provide him with the one thing we are after for 6 mercatos we can go all the way.
I believe our team is good enough, that is a complement to Marotta.

Dzeko didnt happen because of the non-EU rule.

Aguero went for the better deal at City.

Cavani was never going to happen.

Jovetic chose to stay in Fiorentina.

Falcao cost Atleti close to 50M, Juve were never going to pay that kind of money.

so...spend money....taht we don't have at the moment?

again WHERE is this elaborate transfer fund to come from? yes it is not just strikers we are struggling for it is players in EVERY position that we are being priced out of

i think he means throwing our whole transfer budget at ONE TOP PLAYER and hoping that he is so good he hides the deficiencies in the rest of ur squad.....and praying like hell he does not get injured

i believe it's called the "hail Mary"
Again, read back through my posts in this thread and find one instance where I have said that Marotta should break the bank for a top flight striker. I implore you to do so.

But that doesn't excuse him from criticism for running his mouth about big targets mercato after mercato and then delivering us Matri, Quags and Bendtner. And then he has the balls to say that we have the best attack in Italy. He's just asking for it.

Predictably this thread blew up as soon as we lost a single match lol. Quite funny IMO. If we lose 2 I will have to avoid this thread.

The Society feels that the sudden increase of pagans in this thread is simply due to the fact that you are all happy that we lost our unbeaten streak. Yes, we actually feel that you were looking forward to it so you could finally flame. The Society scoffs at your puny attempts.

I don't have the same energy as others here, so I'm just going to contribute to this by hailing Marotta, the greatest of the great SDs ever existed.

However you try to look at things and interpret them, to constantly promising a top forward and ending up with none is inexcusable. Juve have been lacking a top striker since Trez and it hasn't been addressed yet. This is what we have:

Vucinic: a talented player whose bad days outnumber his good ones; too inconsistent to be the focal point of the attack without which the team can't function, too talented to be on bench. Must have been paired with a better player or sold to make way (financially) for one. He wouldn't be a 15m player if he had good days on a constant basis.

Giovinco: too "small" to be a Juve starter, too noisy to sit on bench.

Matri and Quag: decent squad players and nothing more.

Bendtner: too spacious for both playing on the field and sitting on the bench.

Vucinic was known to be a lazy player who cost you games when is not in the mood to play. Giovinco had been given the chance to prove himself before he left Juve and it was clear that he doesn't have what it takes, both mentally and physically, to be a top player in a top team. We had already derived the most we could out of Matri and Quag and you know there's something wrong with a player who Wenger gives up on.

Money is clearly not the only issue considering the amounts paid on Matri and Quag. Credit to Marotta for all he's done but he's responsible for the problems Juve have in attack. His incompetency to seal deals is obvious. Van Persie and Cavani were not going to happen but he totally screwed it up with Jovetic. The player wanted Juve, his wages were relatively low and his price, despite being inflated, was reasonable considering our serious need for a decent forward. The fact that Juve "tried" to sign forwards in the summer means that Conte had asked for them. It was Marotta's fault who couldn't do his job properly in that department.

nah you just say we should "restructure our way of thinking".....try taking that to the negotiating table big boy,see where that gets you

you want a big name player, you blame marotta for not doing so....i say we do not have the funds to bring in the level/stature of player required to appease the Juventuz gods..we simply cannot afford the type of players you are mocking him for not attaining
