We've already shown that the team is good enough to win Serie A, and have improved on it.

CL progress will be important, but a KO competition is completely different to the league. You can be in control of a game or tie and one mistake or red card and you are out. It depends on talent, your draw and luck, if you are setting targets like the CL quarter-final minimum. APOEL reached the CL QF last season, whilst Man Utd and Man City didn't make it out of the group stage, that's the nature of the competition.

What I want to see from the team is being competitive on every level.

Don't be stupid - LB or LWB.
Take your own advice, would you play Asamoah at left back?

What dissapoints me in Marotta is that I think we could have gotten Berbatov. It's easy for Marotta to say it was family matters but at the end of the day the contract offered was poor. Berbatov is worthy of a 3mil€ net per year salary without thinking twice. 2 years at 1.8 per year, too good to be true.

There are just so many ways to sell Juve to Berbatov:
- Experience new country
- Play in CL
- Bulgaria close to Italy
- You'll like the spaghetti
- ...

I think that if we really tried we could have gotten him.

You are truly one of the pseudo-intellectual trolls of this forum.

Asamoah has practically never played LB/LWB before he joined Juve.
But he is now (at LWB), and very good at it.

Right - 2 MOM performances, however, he was brought in for CM depth meaning Marotta still hasn't addressed our 2 most pressing issues which were around when he first joined.

Clutching at straws if you're going to tell me he addressed our LB issue with Asamoah.

That goes without saying, in terms of his mindset, we have clearly prioritised building up quality squad depth.

I don't have a problem with that, but a good CF is still important. It was not impossible to do both.
Going by what is achieved so far, that is true.

Kinda hard to believe when he's said the likes of van Persie and Llorente were definite targets of this club.

If Marotta can stop talking so publicly about these major targets, the backlash would not be so big. He's setting himself up for this.

No, I'm not telling you that. I said Asamoah is a good left wing back, not left back.

As I already said in the Peluso thread, if we are not going to use a back four much this season then we don't actually need to buy a left back. A proper left back. We have De Ceglie, Chiellini, Caceres and Padoin who call all play left back in a back four. In fact Chiellini would be a clear first choice, with Bonucci and Barzagli in the centre.

Sure, there is that side to it. Although he is only responding to questions, which is part of his job.

That he is failing to get the top targets is a bigger problem for me, personally.

I don't think it has to be one or the other, which is my point. He just got the other deals done first, being deals that also had direct competitors and were easier to finish. I think he would have known that other big clubs would want the same attackers, and could lose out on 2-3, but it's been left at or has reached the stage where even the 5th/6th deals didn't materialise.

Even fans from all other clubs, English, Spanish and Italian have started noticing that we always do the same thing and end up settling with crap players in the end of the transfer market after aiming for much more attractive signings.

Obviously it is. But he shouldn't talk so openly about those kinds of players for 3 straight mercatos and fail in the end. Not good for him or the expectations.

What a massive troll marotta. This was his chance to shut his critics up, his chance to strike gold with a big club and gain some rep in the market. Rep he did gain, the guy who gets his lunch stolen by fucking fulham.

You see Juventus playing and the need of a guy to score is almost disturbing. LWB is the other position we really needed improvement. Asamoah as a LWB is another Conte's master coup, not Marotta's success. Marotta failed at improving the 2 most important positions, regardless of the conditions. He made it look better signing players with WC potential to other positions however. And we still need to offload that dead weight. 5/10 so far
