I don't think Elia was a mistake, though. As you say, he was bought for the 4-4-2 and at the time of purchase we had every intention of using that..it was only after the season started did we decide to switch systems...largely because of Krasic not working out (that is my opinion).

Krasic's failure forced Conte to switch systems because we had no strong wingers to make the formation work consistently, especially while Elia was still adapting.

The main reason we didn't use it because all of Vidal, Pirlo, and Marchisio work out well together. 4-4-2 could've still been kept as an option but only two of our MVP together don't work very well.

Yeah, that, combined with the fact that Marchisio, Vidal and Pirlo started to form something special on the training ground. According to Conte, it became evident to him that those three had to be on the field at the same time. That is also something that must've forced through a change of system.

I am still not convinced by him. Conte worked miracles with a squad which ranks pretty low in terms of quality, compared to previous Juventus title winning sides. I'm not undermining the work done by Marotta (he does indeed deserve some praise), but I also refuse to go overboard in praising his "accomplishments."

I'm certain we can make it far in the CL if Marotta gets us a couple of quality additions in the summer. And he will.

I had stated several times that he has not yet constructed a sqaud competitve for Europe. However, I had also stated that I felt that his job was to build a squad that was capable of getting to Europe in the first place, which he has helped to do.

Although I do have to disagree with you in your opinion that this team is not serviceable for Italy, as, well, you know, they just did kinda sorta win the Scudetto a few days ago.

But Jem83, didnt you know its the in thing to bag the quality of Serie A (even after everyones favourite fap worthy coach, Mourinho calls it the hardest and toughest league to win in the world) and rate every other league as being much higher.

In actual fact I think the general level of European leagues is WAY lower than what it was 10 or so years ago. Not just in Italy. The EPL is a fucking suckfest these days, nearly every game I watch in that league makes me fall to sleep.

The Serie A is much stronger than it was a few years ago imo, Serie A is definitely on the rise as Juve has returned plus teams like Lazio, Udinese, Napoli are generally getting stronger and also Palermo have arabs now. The 3 CL spots are only going to increase competition and therefore make the top teams stronger. La Liga is a joke apart from the top two, we would absolutely smash Valencia and any other team (after the next mercato with a top foward(s) :xfinger). Same goes for Bundesliga apart from Bayern and BVB would be a bit tougher than Valencia. I think in a couple of years PSG will be pretty tough in the CL if they still have Ancelotti.

I believe Marotta has done enough to satisfy so far but with this scudetto win and being in CL with the team having some obvious weakness when in comes to comparing to most CL teams he has his work cut out for him. I hope he can make the jump up and become a real Player in the transfer market. I will also commend him on his work signing youth products though.

Last year he signed players that didnt Impress at all but is hat Marotta fault they didn't perform or is it Del Neri who just didn't know how to use them properly? Krasic worked until he was continuously double teamed and again was is Marottas fault he signed a player that wasn't consisted or was it Del Neris fault not seeing this and created a different game plan to expose the open areas? this season he signed 4 ayers in the summer that all turned out to be key signings and this he signed last year performed as well except Krasic and Elia. Those two players are exceptions because the were kept and bought because we all those conte was going to play his 4-2-4 but once conte changed his tactics and found a system that worked Marotta now has a clear idea of what Conte wants and what players to buy. I hope he can make the step up and sign these players. We don't need people who can steady the ship anymore we need people who can maintain us being champions and competitive in Europe again.

There where loads of excuses, but the time has come that there are no more.
We have now a decent coach, we wont have to make massive changes and compromise.
We are in a strong bargain point as a CL team and reigning champions.
There are no more excuses left, i believe that Marotta has already proved he is not Juve material and shound not be given another chance to ruin our plans, capital and set more handicaps to Conte.

I reckon the clueless management would have a tough time to find a decent or even an equivalent management. As we our managers choices are more of a lotery. But this summer, the lies and illussions should stop!
Accepting that Marotta is a compromise we have to live for is different than praising him being anything more than a mediocre midtable Italian team manager, given a big black and white gun...
