In essence there have been hits and misses, but the only truly expensive mistake this year has been Martinez. If anyone can find a director who gets it right every single time, let me know. or better yet, let the Board of Directors in Truin know.
He doesn't get a free pass from me, but he gets more rope than others are willing to give in order for him to hang himself. This summer's mercato will be the true test.
As for simple accounting expenditures, that's pretty much true. He's only really whiffed completely on 1 'large' purchase.
But that's also a pretty simplistic line of reasoning, when addressing the cost of his mistakes. Not addressing crucial positions has cost us substantially, and we're probably going to miss out on CL - and that's worth a ton of cash.
We'll have to see how all the loan situations play out before really judging them.
The issue with Giovinco is less about the loan and more down to the option, man. That was ridiculously cheap, and not a great piece of business at all.
Also, I feel comfortable that I could easily counter that Diego argument - I consider that to be a significant mistake - but People are tired of hearing about Diego so I'll let it go.
You've called me an optimist buddy, but I think your post proves you've got a pretty optimistic streak yourself. Cheers to that, though - this team needs all the optimism its fans can muster right now.
Thanks to Luca Toni, the dream is still alive... HA!
