we need those 4 anyway, don't you think?
A CB is needed.

Two fullbacks are needed, but what kind of fullback they should be is open to debate.

There is no point in buying a right winger if Juve are going to play 4-3-1-2 next season, though one is needed if Juve plan to deploy wingers.

gut feeling says that 4-3-1-2 will be scrapped, we don't have the right players for it...so 4-4-2 with flying Dutchmen FBs and a pacy winger like Krasic.

Marotta plans to restore Juve pride
Tuesday 18 May, 2010
Juventus' new general manager Beppe Marotta says that he intends to restore the club to its former glory.

Marotta is the first building block in Juventus' ambitious plans to rebuild the club from top to bottom.

He arrives from Sampdoria along with Gigi Del Neri who will replace Alberto Zaccheroni on Juventus' bench.

“Juventus are in a situation that doesn't agree with its history. I don't have a magic wand, but there is a young President and I hope to re-launch the club from a sporting point of view.

When asked if Juve need reviving, he said: “Revive is a strong word. I would say Juve need to be made compact again.”

Marotta then reflected on the news that Del Neri intends to follow him to Turin.

“It's normal that a team who wants to aim high looks for the best and Del Neri is considered one of the best.

“Sure I would never want to treat Sampdoria with discourtesy. I would like it if it were made clear that Juventus is not only Marotta.

The man speaks wise and from a former outsiders positions seems to know what we need. He saw Juve from the outside when Samp beat us, I think he speaks about 100 times more intelligently than Secco:tup:

I know. But isn't a SS in a 4-4-2 system has to be a trequartista in modern football?
Depends completely on the players in the system.

Last season, Aberdeen played a 4-4-2 without any sort of trequartista type, but we had a technically gifted target man and so most of the play went through him instead.

A lot of the time in a traditional 4-4-2, the support striker playing off a target man will be looking to run in behind the defence, rather than dropping deep to get the ball a create very much.

gut feeling says that 4-3-1-2 will be scrapped, we don't have the right players for it...so 4-4-2 with flying Dutchmen FBs and a pacy winger like Krasic.
I hope Juve play 4-4-1-1/4-2-3-1 next season, so I hope wingers are a priority

However, I would only go for one attacking fullback and one more balanced one.

There are no more "plain" 4-4-2 in modern football.
There is in Britain, if not in the rest of the world.

Who would you want as Fullbacks then Red?
Criscito for the left.

I would tolerate Caceres for the right if he was cheap/re-loaned, but I don't like him.

Juve could do worse than try to pinch Motta from Roma, since Ranieri has barely given him a look in.

Agree.

Motta would be good, I'm with you I'd rather we send Caceres back. If Rafinha comes available I would not mind bringing him here for the right.
