Six games into the season and we tried four players at the RB position. None of them proved to be worth the starting spot there.

Marotta failed in this case.

He failed signing a RB after letting go Dani Alves. It's that easy.

He bought DeS (who should be back up, not a starter) and a CB that CAN play fullback in Höwedes.

One must not defend everything Beppe does.

Indeed, our RB options is a massive failure for Marotta. It's undeniable.

He didn't fail at signing a RB. He actually did sign one: MDS.

Now, if his argument was he failed at signing a top class RB, well, that's an entirely different argument. In this case, ze German is incorrect.

To be fair signing good fullback is pretty tough these days. Very few of them on the market any club who has an especially good one isn't letting them go

There's a reason a player like Paolo De Ceglie actually played here for several years

You mean it's difficult to find an Italian good fullback and that detail is what matters the most!
We only find kak fullbacks as long as we only focus on Italian fullbacks, considering the options the NT has, there indeed lies a problem there. That's why we had to put up with molinaros, grossos and the likes, once we look abroad, we can easily find decent solutions, lesser Italian teams do.
Beppe did find great fullbacks in Evra, Dalves and Sandro, it was Allegri that asked for De Sciglio And Marotta simply delivered!
Howedes was on overkill after the Chiellinii injury and obvious sub par quality level of De Sciglio and Benatia form.
Actually Marotta overperformed here, once Allegri integrates Howedes, we will see!

If today our best team, considering players recent performance is

Buffon

Licht Rugani Chiellini Sandro

Pjanic Matuidi

Cuadrado Dybala Costa

Mandzo

Our backup team, considering everybody healthy, would be

Szczesny

MDS Barzagli Benatia Asamoah

Khedira Marchisio Bentancur

Pjaca Bernardeschi

Higuain

(+ Sturaro and Howedes)

That's not bad a squad :juventus:
