It has to be said now that it's all said and done, he did a pretty poor job providing us with what we need. It was a bit of genius by Allegri to put Mandzukic on the left, but really what did we have? Yes there is an injured Pjaca, but he is still way too raw at this level.
We are a squad built for 3-5-2. For that formation we have options, albeit the main midfielders don't really work well as a 3. So I would agree slightly that he didn't do a good job on the midfield, which resulted in us moving to the new formation.

Who knows whether Allegri asked for players for a 4-2-3-1 in the summer, I suspect not though. So wouldn't blame him for not having the players for it this season.

Yeah the formation change left us horrible light on the bench, especially with Pjaca injured.

It all seems pointless at this point anyway, another sub option would have made no difference in this game. We need to somehow dominate and get a good lead in a final to have a chance. We play the entire season for these games and to lose every time is not good enough.

It's not only about mentality, only having some baseless mentality won't win us anything. It's the actual value that matters. And financially we are not in the same league with Real. Real is a team that is loved and sponsored by an entire country, Italy bent the rules and destroy Ed the Italian football, only to bring us down. Difference makers like CRonaldo see that and know what to expect from us and what to expect from Real. This year is a magnificent year to the road of reaching out pre-calciopoli levels. Even with our limitations, we showed that we can make a 100mil sale, a 100 million acquisition and reach a CL final. This is how you build a strong team, step by step and this year for the first time after Nothing, we did everything right! It's still a long road ahead and it's mostly after our owners to step up and invest, the moments it counts the most.
Marotta may not be optimal, but he has proved that he is good enough this year!

I concur with your opinion, surely there is space to improve but we must follow a process and not despair.

I hope Beppe buys killers. I'm tired of this fucking shit. Seriously, he's amazing, but fucking please, buy some ruthless don't give a fuck killers, because that's the only way we won't get humilated in the fucking finals. In the last two finals we have played the score has been 7-2... SEVEN FUCKING TWO.

We have square pegs. Mandzukic is not a left winger and Dani Alves should not be playing RW as he can't do it all on his own without help.

Khedira was too slow and a step behind the play, he should not be starting as the game just passed him by.

Calm down. We outplayed a team at the same level as Real. What tonights game showed us is that our depth is far from good enough.

The thing is, we have the talent on the pitch regardless of money. We have a very good group of players and are a top club. We should've done a lot better than this but no one stepped up. That's a mental issue.

I think it's harsh to blame Khedira and Pjanic for this game as they came against the best midfield in the world and not only that but Real had always a one or two man advantage in that area depending on where Isco was. They badly needed help in that middlefield battle.

Yeah that is true.

However against the best teams players will get found out at that level.

Khedira is a good player but he is not be able to do it in a final against a team like Real.

Need attacking options and great striker to come off the bench for Higuain.

Need a WC CM too to start.
Valid points. But today our midfield didnt give attack any support. The midfield faded away 2nd half from min 46. Eventually you start to ask questions if players like Khedira who have injury record can give their full in a 38 league + what ever 11-12 games it is to play in CL.

We can criticize them but they might have run out of gas. In the meantime it was pointed out during the final by the tv reporter that Zidane has rotated CRonaldo for example this season and he has played less minutes in league, and the great squad roster Real has with 2 WC players for each position means they can rotate and keep everyone fresh and fit for long season.

Now look at us in comparison. It was either Khedira-Pjanic or Marchisio-Pjanic all season. Sandro is playing literally every big game cause Asamoah the only backup is not trustworthy.

And the attacking system almost became its own undoing cause i said during the season, i expect guys like Mandzu and yes even Higuain to be totally tired and wear out end of season cause play all games 90 mins. Higuain, Khedira and Mandzu where our most mins played games.

After the first disappointment goes, these are things to look at. And on the big run, Mandzu isnt a LW so we should think long term here.

:agree:

Playing Alex Sandro effectively as a centre back was the cause of so many problems. He would usually help out the midfield but was far too deep/central. It also meant that we were overrun down the left.

Similar story with Barzagli

It doesn't help that Allegri has to change the formation every season to get the team playing well.

Too many changes and players are recruited at random it seems rather that having a specific formation and plan in mind to play.

And then we are buying Shick and Keita to play wide.............................

Should buy Mbappe and Bernadeschi instead. Berna will be long term upgrade over Cuadrado.

Should try to sign some top CM though. Is this Emre Can we are linked with actually good?

Im worried about Marchisio btw besides Khedira-Pjanic shortcomings. Marchisio has had his own injury issues while getting older and he doesnt influence games as much as he did. This season he also doesnt have that vise - pirlo impact. With him losing his starting XI place, his confidence and ability will also be affected.

Yeh. But to be honest this shortcomings also come from our badly handled mercato. I dont know how this happened , dont know if allegri asked for something and beppe gave them another thing, but that midseason formation change, to me, means that we had not a clear idea on how to play and how to buy on the summer, and when it backfired, it was so bad we had to change all formations plnaifications and improvise.

Kudos to allegr for that because that way we reached the final, but to be sincere, we need a clear idea on what we will do in the summer and buy superb players to complete that clear idea.

Im not saying pjanic and higuain were flukes because they clearly werent... but the truth is that this time we cant fuk it up for a 2nd straight year and we need to go with very clear ideas on what kind of player we need to play a superbly attacking style to overcome teams in the CL.

If we are good enough on doing this, for sure we will be able to win in serie a too.

But, i stay my ground. We need a clear plan and some stellar buys to complement the team.

No more pennypinchings , no more opportunity singings. The coach needs to ask and enforce his plan and follow it.

And if money needs to be splashed, then so be it.
