A lot of where you stand as far as who is elite is the ambitions of the club. A player just wants to win and play at the highest possible place. The better the player the more they generally want to win the highest awards both personally and on a team level. We are much more ambitious than arsenal and Liverpool. That does count for a lot and even if there are a few teams in a tier above us players come to us and think they can compete at the highest level and that we can improve their career with us

Great start to transfer campaign, then fucked things up along the way with the Vidal transfer. That is if we really sold him for 35 million, which is peanuts.

Despite the fact that we haven't won the league title in ages, but I still don't see that we have a lot of difficulty in attracting players when we're willing to spend the money. Both Ozil and Sanchez transfers show that, and above all; Suarez in the summer of 2013, he was very willing to come to us from Liverpool, but Rodgers and Liverpool rightfully did not want to sell to a rival.

My belief is that it is a mix of finances, ambition, history, prestige of the club and popularity/fan following. Even things like a clubs stadium and training facilities play a small role IMO.

Yes you are so attractive to their former clubs.Very attractive and generous Ozil 52 mil ans Alexis around 40,Sanchez was willing to come here but we refused to pay that fee.Rightfully. Moratta is deadly predator for half of Sanchez price and is younger.
