Azzurri and Juve are different. And knives are sharpened for Gigi because he held to much higher standard then Marchisio, plus Goalkeeper is very vital position.
Im shocked at the amount of knee jerking in this thread. Exactly two weeks ago Buffon single handedly held Italy against Bulgaria if memory serves me right and all of a sudden according to the gem that is yacht man or what not is $#@!??? Son you wouldn't know what $#@! is if you looked in the mirror. I'm sorry but we have been graced by Buffon for several years now, to the point we tend to forget he is human. That's to say we only see him on the pitch with no regard to the fact these players lead a separate life. Yes he is a professional I get that but he is human at the end of the day and just like us the smallest things in our lives may effect how we act and work. Last night's goal is a real mistake, it's not like he did so on purpose. I think Buffon is a legend and still has a lot to give juve. It's funny the knives are sharpened for buffon where as marchisio a player who goes AWOL for large portions of the season is given a pass by some.
I believe we all are this concerned because frankly we don't see the club is making enough efforts to set up his replacement, btw where is and what does leali do nowdays?
why do we have to use storari as 2nd gk, why not someone young with potential like leali?
Gigi has always mad such mistakes, even when he was younger (like the ones against Atalanta and Chievo that I posted). However, they are getting more common and he's getting less specatacular saves.

Poor game from him but I wouldn't over think it. Players in all postions can have an off day, it just stands out more when you are the 'keeper. He has been playing well this season and sure he will be back to his best against Torino.
His handling is starting to worry me. Not from crosses but the lower driven shots which he's been at times endlessly fumbling on. It's commonly creeping more and more into his game these days. Basically 2 of his errors in last nights game has led to both legitimate goals being conceded.
He hasn't really declined that much, it just seems like when he makes those mistakes his mind is elsewhere or he isn't fully concentrating. He's still easily the best GK when 100% in form like he's already shown a few times this season.

I completely trust Conte and Gigi to solve this. If he really wants it, Buffon is good enough to be our goalie a few more seasons at least, it just depends on the motivation.
Its kind of worrisome what gigi is going thru, but we need to continue believing in him. Lets give him some games to redeem himself. Just some games ago he was doing ok. He is not the same player and will never be, but he could still be considered a top keeper.
His shot stopping is still world class and the mistake for the first goal was a stupid avoidable brain snap, the only real problem is against long shots, he has a habit of spilling the ball right in front of the players, his reflexes arnt any worse (vs Bulgaria) its just how he handles long distance shots

That's a realistic problem. I don't know if it has anything to do with age at all. I get the slower reflexes as goalkeepers become older, but why is Gigi becoming so weak with handling these low shots? Could it somehow be connected to his back problem?
