Buffon tips Milan for title

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]Juventus custodian Gianluigi Buffon has crowned rivals Milan as favourites for the Italian championship.

The Rossoneri went to the top of the table last night after their 1-0 win over Inter saw them move six points clear of serious title contenders Inter and the Bianconeri.

“Milan are the big favourites for the Scudetto,” said the currently injured goalkeeper.

“If we finish the campaign three or four points behind them then we can consider our season a success.

“If we were to finish 18 points behind them then it is clear that we still haven’t reduced the gap between ourselves and our rivals.

“Juventus though are a solid side, a young one too, and the squad has been well built for the future.”

Buffon, who has been sidelined since picking up an injury at the World Cup in South Africa, has repeatedly been in the news lately.

Stories suggest that his relationship with the new club officials isn’t as strong as it was with the previous regime.

As a result, the former Parma man’s future has been cast into some doubt with numerous clubs associated.

But Buffon has again pledged his allegiance to the Old Lady of Italian football. “I’ll be back in January. With Juventus? Of course.”

Marco Storari, signed from Milan in the summer after a spell at Sampdoria, has replaced Buffon in the Juve goal this term.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that his attitude is not appreciated within the club, although it remains distinctly unlikely that he will leave in January even amid reported interest from Manchester United.
A big fat FUCK YOU to that shitty newspaper.

At this point I'm reasonably accustomed to a Juventus without him. We haven't been much worse off, thus far, to be honest. Not that anyone would bid 25m euros for him, but if they did, it wouldn't be bad business at all. Nor from a sporting perspective.

Buffon: 'I'd be crazy to leave Juve'

Gianluigi Buffon reiterated he has no intention of moving to the Premier League. “I’d be crazy to leave Juventus.”
The goalkeeper has been out all season following back surgery and should return in January, but caused controversy with his failure to watch games from the stands.

That fuelled speculation of an imminent transfer to Manchester United or Manchester City.

“It is only normal that my name is always brought up by transfer specialists, as it always makes the headlines,” he told Radio Uno.

“I’d be crazy to leave Juventus, though. In a week I can finally return to the Vinovo ground to train with my teammates.”

It really depends on how much we can get for him. I'd like him to stay, but 30M Euros would do quite a lot to strengthen the rest of the side. Anything less than that forget about it.
