Buffon: 'Why I missed Juve photo'
Gianluigi Buffon has denied he was AWOL from a Juventus photo shoot. “I had to be in Switzerland for an award.”
Speculation over the goalkeeper’s future and a potential January move to Manchester United intensified after he failed to attend the team’s official photo session on Friday.

“I was not with the squad simply because I had to undergo a very important physiotherapy session for my recovery process,” insisted Buffon.

“Yesterday we tested out the efficiency of the leg after the operation and I had some very positive signs.

“In the evening I then had to be in Switzerland to pick up an award as best goalkeeper in the world. I had promised I’d be there, so I couldn’t back out.”

It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to calm the speculation in the Italian and British media.

Can anybody confirm or otherwise that Del Neri said that Gigi never visited his team mates in training while out injured? I read in a local paper that del neri said that he (Buffon) may have not realised his absence, but the team did. Is this true? If it is, it sucks from Gigi's side to not bother visit the group and offer his support. Really not a vice-captain thing to do.

Del Neri: 'Why hasn't Buffon visited?'

Gigi Del Neri insisted there was no problem with Gigi Buffon, but also asked “why hasn’t he come to training or the new stadium?”
The goalkeeper caused controversy when he did not attend the official Juventus photo session this week, but Del Neri claimed it was simply because he was injured and undergoing treatment.

However, the Coach also let slip he wasn’t entirely happy about the lack of interest shown in his teammates.

Buffon has probably not even realised that he has been absent from the Vinovo ground for this long, but the team has.

He hasn’t come to training, nor to the new stadium, but I don’t think he did it to show his rapport with Juventus is in trouble.

In any case, it’s up to him to explain it, not me. I only had telephone contact with him and I’m not the one who ought to get up and travel for a meeting.

“I hope Buffon can soon come back to the squad and help out. I don’t think we ought to blow this out of proportion, though.”

Kinda strange to say the bold part and then ask not to blow things out of proportion.

He probably looked grumpy because Del Neri wanted him to be at the stadium, instead of him skiing in Switzerland :D
Do you blame him? Who'd want to look at Amauri & his famous palmface?
