Watch matches like Genoa-Inter and you will realise why Júlio César is one of the best (by a million miles the best goalkeeper in the world last season).
Also, you can look at any of the Brazilian world cup qualifying matches to see him pull off save after save to keep his team in the match (Ecuador-Brazil, Uruguay-Brazil). Definitely their best player.

Buffon is amazing. If you were to look up the true definition of a world class goalkeeper you would find his picture and his name used in a sentence to show phonetically how the term world class is used correctly. The guy is number 1, has been for some time now and will continue to be number 1 for a while.

The thing that make Casillas attractive to many fans is becasue he always have minumum 3/4 acrobatic saves in each match. Did they ask why. He isn't very good in positioning, so usually he has to hyper extend to save. On the other hand buffon always in the right place and that's why he usually has a lot of easy saves due to his high football goalkeeping IQ and if it was Casillas it would have been different story, and he has to jump far to reach the ball
Excellent save that, we all know Buffon is #1 no doubt. He can, and will, win us quite a few important points this season, having a great goalie can make that difference.
Anyway.. I hate how goalies like Cech and Casillas are usually overrated and called 'the best'. Cech, since his injury, has been average at best. I'd have someone like Given over Cech in his current form.
Same with Casillas; someone said something about him earlier and I can only agree: he does the odd acrobatic save, the kind you see in a youtube vid, and people go 'wow, he's good'. When you watch him play regularly you see how many mistakes he actually makes.
