Inter owner Massimo Moratti has distanced the club from rumours suggesting they will attempt to sign Gigi Buffon and Lionel Messi.
The Juventus goalkeeper and the Barcelona sensation have been named as possible summer transfer objectives, but Moratti insists he has no thoughts of getting out his chequebook.
“With all the admiration that we may have for Buffon, we don’t have this kind of necessity,” Moratti told Inter Channel.
“As a result, we are not in the chase – at this moment in time – to sign him at the end of the season.”
Inter were apparently ready to make a £25m bid for the Italian, while Moratti was allegedly prepared to splash out over £70m for the Argentine.
“Everyone is now talking about how I am supposedly crazy about signing Messi,” added the President.
“The reality is that I spoke well of him two years ago when he made his debut for the Argentine Under-21 side.
“We haven’t had the slightest of contact with him since then.
