Juve desperate to keep Buffon

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has said the Turin club will do everything in its power to keep Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

"Buffon is one of our champions. It would be foolish if we did not try to secure him to our club for the coming years," said Gigli.

"It cannot be any different for a man considered the world's best goalkeeper."

Buffon has led Juve to the top of Serie B despite a points handicap at the beginning of the season.

"He's the number one," Gigli added. "He is also showing this with us in Serie B."

Buffon: "Juve capro espiatorio dei perdenti"
    05 12 2006

"I'm proud to have been punished, cause it's like having cleaned (more or less) Juventus. Now we can look everyone in their eyes. I don't know how many can say this for themselves. I don't want to give names, but we paid for all the *perdenti* (losers). It was right to clean the calcio world, but I read only about Juve's phone taps. Is it possible that the other clubs didn't speak on the phone?"

Gigi, they did. But some were able to make their conversations vanish and some others threatened to rediscuss the Tv contracts for Serie A and B. And, Gigione, I can assure you you could look everybody in the eyes also before calciopoli, trust me.

Anyway, this guy is just great :touched:

Juve were a scapegoat, says Buffon Tuesday 5 December, 2006

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gianluigi Buffon believes Juventus were made a scapegoat during the summer Calciopoli scandal. “We were sacrificed,” he declared.

The goalkeeper decided to remain with the Bianconeri despite their demotion to Serie B, but he is convinced that the Turin club were not the only guilty party.

“I am proud that I stayed here and that we were punished, because that sort of rehabilitated Juventus,” said Buffon in an interview to an Italian weekly magazine.

“We became the scapegoat for all the losers, but now we can hold our head up high and I’m not sure that goes for everyone else,” added the world champion.

“It was right to clean things up a little in the world of football, but I still wonder how is it possible that we were the only ones who spoke on cell phones…”

Although Buffon committed himself to the outfit last summer, he has yet to decide what his future will be at the end of the season.

“This club has given me a lot and I owe it just as much because they made me become who I am today, that is why I thought it was unfair to leave this summer,” he added.

“I am not saying that those who left did wrong, their choice was logical, mine instead was totally illogical,” said the No 1.

“I do not know where I will be next year, a lot depends on the club’s future project. If I were to choose now I would prefer to play abroad, but when the time will come I will call a family meeting to decide,” concluded Buffon.

In the meantime, Juventus have decided to appeal against the five-match ban handed to Pavel Nedved by the disciplinary commission on Tuesday.

“Nedved has been suspended for five championship games following his sending off in Genoa last Friday, December 1,” read an official note on the club’s website.

“Juventus consider the punishment to be excessive and will therefore lodge an appeal with the relevant sporting authorities,” concluded the statement.

Buffon: I'm Proud To Wear This Shirt

"Others never talked on cell phones?", the Juve goalkeeper ironically asks.

Gianluigi Buffon is by now a Bianconero in the heart, if that ever needed confirmation, and admitted as much himself in an interview given to a magazine. The goalkeeper feels identified in the new strategy of Juventus, "a club that has given me a lot and to which I owe a lot because they made me become what I am today."

"I am proud to have stayed here and to have been punished, it's as if I rehabilitated Juventus - the goalkeeper said - we were treated like the scapegoat for all the losers but right now we can go around with out heads held high, I'm not sure that goes for everyone else". There is still an issue suspended in his head, even though he also admits that "it was right to clean things up a little in the football world". "How is it possible we were the only ones who talked on cell phones?", the goalkeeper who finished second in the Golden Ball votings somewhat ironically asked himself.

he is the best no doubt about it, and we seriously need to kill our selves so that we keep him for life. i see bffon as the upcoming captain for juventus after del piero retires. forza gigi buffon the best of the best!!!!!!!

And what did Zambrotta and Thuram. Fucking traitors. Who were they before Juve bought them and made a players of two mediocres. And Zambrotta complains that managament screwed him cause they didn't sell him to Milan. Is he nuts. No one normal wouldn't reinforce his biggest opponents.

    They will regret one day.

Boumsong praising Buffon, and asking to retain him...

    ---------------------------

All'inizio, ha ricevuto tante critiche.

«No. Cerco di prendere sempre la palla. Poi posso sbagliare...».

In Inghilterra no».
