No, they are not equal in term of legend status.

Buffon was the best Italian player & the best GK in the wrold during his prime and has been unanimously seen as a top 5 GK for over 20 fecking years.

Hell, he was even once voted as the best European player at one time, something Del Piero didn't achieved.

Never mind that Buffon is a huge reason why Juventus have won 7 straight Serie A titles (historic record) & reached 2 UCL-finals, losing against Barca with the best attacking trio ever and Real Madrid who have reached 3 UCLs in the past 4 years.

Del Piero was a very good forward/trequarista, but never really reached the heights Buffon did in term of greatness for us.

Buffon is a bigger Juve-legend compared to Del Piero
Blasphemy.

Dont turn this into a debate between two greats.

Del Piero has won the CL, top goal scorer ever and most appearances ever. He is by far a bigger legend for us.
He has been the best player in the world at one time and he played for us at the highest level in a much harder position in a much harder era.
Either your a relatively new fan or have a short memory.

Del Piero is our all time top scorer, who by the way once reached three consecutive CL finals (being instrumental in every campaign) and actually won one of them.

Ale is on top untouchable. No doubt.

These are the kind of comparisons that ruin legacies. Let's not be as classless as Milan fans comparing Maldini to Baresi and ending up disrespecting one of them.

Del Piero is the greatest legend of this club, but not the best player that played here. if thats what Guarin is trying to say, hes right
Nope he said Del Piero never really reached the heights Buffon did in terms of greatness for us. So he is talking about stature aswell as playing ability.

Even at that id say peak Del Piero is as good as anyone who has ever played at Juve and its very hard to compare a goalkeeper to a forward for many different reasons.

i didnt read what he said, just saw people arguing with him over this, but thats wrong. he was our best player in deep CL runs several times in the 90s, early 2000s. before the injury he was a monster of a player, s good as anyone in the world.

Buffon surpassed Scirea IMO, but DP is by far our greatest legend ever indeed.
It's hard and unfair to compare legends
I'm not sure why we have to rank them, everyone has personal preferences
Mine is Del Piero but that is just me
For others its Platini, Buffon etc

They are all juventus personified

I didn't get as emotional for Buffon but it also hasn't hit me yet, I found myself worrying more so about where he will go next and sort of hoping he calls it a day on an amazing career

But his decision will be respected and he will always be Juventus and will come back to work alongside Andrea eventually

I don't think it's hit me yet either
