Yea I've played it. The director and producers obviously jumped at the chance to do a full episode about them because they knew the reacyit would get. That's what annoyed me most about it. 10 years ago I'd of enjoyed it for what it was but now that you know why they are doing it it's annoying.

At some point we need to relax and not be so quick to be triggered by every little thing. Its not like the Velma nonsense thats outright trolling for hate and toxic reactions to sell (they litterally throw in every little thing that can trigger peeps), or many of the token bs stories of Netflix. This someone who got bit carried away with the angle, but still told a good survivalist love story, from two minor characters that were heavily hinted to be lovers in the game its based on.

Basically expanding on the universe, they faithfully re-enact all the cut scenes from the games more or less so far (even using same actors with some). But since rest of the gameplay is just you going around shooting zombies (or pesky Fedras), the story expansions for a tv show you have to more or less build on or do your own take.

The episode, unlike retarded Velma reboot or netflix BS tropes, have been well received because it was well acted and decently done (amount of time covered in one episode was well done). Nick Offerman was stellar in this episode (and the crazy dude from season 1 white lotus lol).

The only cheesy and disagreeable part for me was the suicide pact ending, it was bit cringe for me, because it dawned on me they are fucking killing off Bill WITHOUT him meeting Joel and Ellie together. BS IMO, could have just let Frank take his own life like in the game, and Bill meets them (instead of just leave note and keys, so he basically is just a hardware store to them). Bill, a uniquely laconic hardcore survivalist, and Ellie interactions would been welcomed comedy in the adaption of this grim world.

That was one terrible interview. Like the worst way possible to promote your one off guest directed episode. This director comes off as a troll.

No we don't, that's called brain washing, if all these fag scenes were in episode 1 this would get no traction. The directors bet on you being invested enough to have this very attitude you describe. I don't care what anybody says or thinks but seeing gay porn is fucking disgusting and it will never be normal for me.

I can get that two guys might love each other, even without identifying with it, but the scene was quite clearly made to generate a reaction. And they admit it. What these pro-queer don't seem to understand is how utterly unappealing it is for many straight people to see some hairy-ass middle aged men in erotic scenes. I know, I'm probably a closet gay. I was watching it with my girlfriend and she looked at me with a disgusted look and said "I don't need to see this", and this is someone who has worked in student unions and is considerably more left than I am.

But then you see the equally pointless and grosser kissing scene with Tess and it's obvious that they want to create shock value and talking points. There is so much to watch now that I guess they have to tick lots of boxes and find ways to generate interest. Any kind of attention is good.

LOL, no.
They probably had already more than 10 episodes filmed so it's pointless to not release it.
Netflix does this with their animations. They film like 16 20 episodes and after, release 2 season instead of just one containing all of them.
The viewership is definetly not high, because if it was they would have released numbers for it.
At this point they said "Most watched debut of any animated series on HBO Max" and since then crickets.
Can you name another animation series that this garbage show has had to compete in the last 1 - 2 years on HBO Max?
And they definitely care because this train wreck has the potential damage the Scooby Doo brand.

If it would be such a hit HBO Max would brag daily about it and it's viewing numbers.
You seem like you a good dude but my lord are you naive.

I like the Last of Us, the psychology of the characters is really interesting. With the gay stuff, it's no improvement over a normal heterosexual romance so just leave it out. If anything, it takes away from the story because you focus on that fact instead of the romance plus, they're alone so it has no bearing on society. It's a move to generate interest, that's all.

I like that they made the boy deaf, it added to the his chemistry with Ellie and the older brother. The acting by the boy was excellent because he could express so much emotion without talking. That is how you promote a minority group.
