I don't like war subjects and I don't like fantasy. Breaking Bad is probably the best TV show I have ever seen, Boardwalk Empire is great too. I am new to series so I can't say much.

Perhaps The Sopranos? That and The Wire are the other really good ones I could recommend. I hear a lot of good things about both Boardwalk Empire & Mad Men but haven't seen any of either yet, going to finish Six Feet Under.
