I considered maybe you meant West World, but I figured nah, you probably noticed I used to write alot in the series thread here.

Cant wait for season 2 (and FFS hope Anthony Hopkins is still in it somehow...), this show feels so fullfilling in subject matter for someone who read enough Phillip K Dick or Phillp K Morgan books (Takeshi Kovacs series :touched: ).

Twin Peaks. :tuttosport:

Lynch and Frost delivered up a masterpiece. Still weird, bizarre, and without a very cohesive plot, following a Dream logic that's hard to navigate and hard to understand what's real or not as the surreal, the absurd, the real stack themselves together, layer upon layer... and it's still got that wonderfully frustrating pacing, that silly humour, and all the things that made the original show so brilliant, just intensified. Gorgeous visuals too.

It's amazing to see all the elements in it that remind of newer shows, Lost, True Detective, The Sopranos, Fargo, amongst others, until you remember that all these elements are extremely Lynchian and were in that original show in one form or another.

Here's hoping the rest of the new episodes build upon this captivating start.

@Raz. Nah TV way back then were alot of procedurals and formulaic shows, most of my favs from then when I was kid but far from better bro, was alot of simply shows in all genres.Where now, from late 90s/early 00s til now, has seriously reached a golden age of creativity and sheer ingenuity. In terms of writers/creators exploring everything in the medium that was remotely close to being possible before, but also seriously great actors willing to do TV with ease past decade or more.
have to agree on 90/00. But today it's too much crap, but it's just becasue there is so many TV shows now and a lot of them are just target audiance shit.

But is this any different than 20 years ago?

Don't know personally of course, but I'd wager no
TV was pretty much garbage in the era before Twin Peaks. There were some amusing sitcoms and police procedurals/detective shows, but for the most part it was just over-recycled fluff. The medium has grown by leaps and bounds.

And HBO, etc, really have Frost and Lynch and what they did with Twin Peaks to thank for getting the ball rolling. Aside from that, rewatching the original show today, you see how phenomenal it really was, and the incredibly impressive way it manages to meld together so many genres, cliches, tropes, etc into one big hodgepodge and make it work. I haven't seen a show come close since. This doesn't mean that it's the best show of all-time (even if it's my favourite), there are plenty of fantastic shows in the last 25 years, but none have really managed to cross so many boundaries and mix so many elements together and succeed in such a brilliant fashion.

I seen it ofcourse, quite underrated series IMO, the ideas it explored will be more appriciated after the show ends and people binge watched it in dvds.

Thanks, Tried my hardest to get through blindspot (thank you viaplay), but usually watch 2-3 episodes then drop it for a while.

Seen bits of Left overs before, its quite cuckoo but intriguing still. Never seen the Path, only know its about a cult and Aaron Paul is in it.
The Path is good, something about it makes you want to binge it, Aaron Paul is also one of the reasons but the series is not over, Seasopn 3 is coming later. The Leftovers is very bizarre, sometimes I want to stop watching and other times I want to continue. In the end there is so little quality to binge at the moment, Blindspot is far from being quality TV but I like the characters and the way they are working the episodes.

Watched the first episode (which is actually 2 episodes) of new Twin Peaks last night. I loved it. :ID: It looks like another bomb. The directors are really crazy, they must be on some kind of drugs.

I finished it, it's fantastic. It became my favourite current series during its 2nd season run, got past Black Sails for me after it took a nose dive in final season.

How could you get past episode 3 in Billions?

And I never had the energy to start Black Sails, same goes for Sons of Anarchy.

Don't get any hangup for trust me Billions is a very good show. Doesn't take itself too seriously and becomes really entertaining.

Plus it helps I could watch Damian Lewis in anything.

:agree: Easy Company :touched: But it's not only that...Paul Giamatti finally got to play a lead role and he is doing great. Even Magie Siff isn't the annoying bitch we knew from SoA. David Contabile, too.

And this guy:

Yeah it had potential, his characters zen weirdness was fantastic, and Sarah Shahis best role imo (over hers in POI).

American Gods is getting better with each episode. I suggest anyone who doesn't watch it yet to do it. Crispin Glover as Mr. World was great in the latest episode. Too bad there are only 3 more left and it will probably end with a giant cliffhanger.

New Twin Peaks:

I think it became shit. First 4 episodes had frustrating parts but I somehow managed to digest it. It was good... but it had 10-15mins of dull parts. I was hoping that was for a reason as they released all 4 at once, so I was hoping it was a long-ish movie for starters. 5th episode was my hope and it was crushed last night. It was horrible. Firstly, it doesn't remind me one bit of old TW due to too many cities, new era, new characters which I don't even like etc. Secondly, the story is torn in too many parts and not in a good way. I love the confusing and WTF stuff, but this looks like bad directing. Thirdly, I think it's absolutely disgusting how there's 4-7 minutes quality in the episode while the rest of it is dumb, slow and unnecessary piece of shit. You can't have a retarded Cooper for 20-30 min in a casino, sitting like a moron infront of his wife for 5 minutes, sitting in his office for 10 minutes and without a word said. It's not a mystery, it's boring and stupid.

Old Twin Peaks every character great, it had great music, it had a great story, hidden mystery. You can literally watch a 45minute episode and enjoy 45 minutes of it. It was also nostaligic and camera was brilliant. It simply had everything. Now, this new shit, it doesn't even come close. I sit to watch a 45 minute episode and I see 25 minutes of Cooper walking like a moron, standing and barely speaking or just repeating a word or two. It's b-o-r-i-n-g and looks like a below average show. They invest too much time for stupid scenes which aren't even needed so they miss placing the important/old characters. It's... bad. I'm not even happy about it as old Twin Peaks is probably my favorite show ever and they managed to fuck it up. I'll continue watching but right now I can't say I'm even excited about it. Lynch might pull something out of his hat, it might become good once the jailed Cooper goes to black lodge and retarded Cooper comes to himself. But it just shows how these 5 episodes were shit and just a waste of it so I wish he paced up silly parts and skipped over them. There's just 13 episodes left. 5th episode is a disaster. I'm not even kidding. It had 4-7 minutes of good stuff while everything else tore my eyes and made them bleed.
