I usually don't like watching shows that are on going because when I'm finished I have to wait 1 year for the next season... There are two on going shows I'm currently watching and those are Better Call Saul and Game of Thrones.

Shows I've seen:

The Wire
Breaking Bad
The Sopranos
Oz
The Pacific
Game of Thrones
Band of Brothers
Generation Kill
Deadwood
Boardwalk Empire
Entorauge
How I Met Your Mother
Married with... children
Better Call Saul
Lost

See, Allegri is not the only one I love. :D
You should add Hannibal to your list.

And if you're a double, great work on fleshing out the character of your alter ego :D

He should add Fullmetal Alchemist eventhough it's anime.

He should also add Firefly and X-Files! Speaking of X-Files, I hear we're getting new stuff in the summer :D and even a new book is out as far as I know.

You say Rome? I say Spartacus! :D

Reality is depressing only if your mental state is. So, realistically, you don't need an escape but entertainment.
I look at it objectively, and it is so depressing that it changed my mental state. You can't look at all the massacres happening around the world abs think it's all good.
But do you really need a ridiculous mask, cape and tights packaged in an animal theme to achieve that?
All that is superficial. Anything that is doesn't from reality is all you need. :)

Hollywood in the 1930s was complete escapism from the Great Depression. Then it was about grand musicals and people with lots of money.

Rarely did they need to cling to the superficial trappings of some guy in tights pretending to be a skunk in order to achieve that escapism. If it's superficial, than why bother with the whole charade to begin with? You just make your heroes look like performers in a gay nightclub.

But there's nothing new about that.

On the other hand, not all people are depressive, which makes it an individual issue IMO.
Exactly. There's nothing new with reality in that aspect. At least comics tell better stories. And if you look at the fan following, it's clearly captivating a large audience.

My point is that instead of complaining about why we need to read stories about people in tights, try to look at the emotional need that it caters to in its audience. Maybe then you'll see why done people like it.

Hannibal is on my list, don't worry. I'm just waiting for it to finish first. One show I can't wait til I start with is Homeland. Really looking forward to it.

And don't worry, I'm no double.
