I've heard a lot of arguments about gay marriage. Deneb's "argument from envy" has to be among the least convincing.

Dude, if you want the money you can get married right now, you have the choice. There are tax benefits calling out to you. Okay, you're limited to women, but that's still a lot of people. But you say "nah, I don't feel like it". Then you hear that two guys want to get married and you're against it.

arguments from envy? like if gays envy the straight so much why dont they just act straight and reap the benefits? check mate senor but really i am more into arguments based on reality as opposed to the poorly designed utopias spewed around here, it's really not hard to understand the money to 'finance' this has to come from somewhere and i dont want any part of it, and since you dont believe in making something out of nothing(zing!) you really should be on board with this.

Your problem is that you're living in the past. I should be on board with your argument? Gays were already getting married in this country before I came to live here. If benefits is your only issue, then you should be advocating against the benefits themselves, not that gay couples might get them.

Because the number of people who have sexual preference towards their cats and would want to marry them is equal to that of gays? You might as well say that you find gays as anomalous as those who are sexually attracted to their cats.

you;re not making sense here, it is because of the very essence of taxes affecting everybody we are talking. the only reason homosexuals want to call it marriage and legitimize it is to take advantage of these 'benefits'. No one is stopping any 2 guys from getting together and doing whatever the hell they want, but i am against financing their 'choice', so if people speak in a democratic way to that effect that should be accepted.

Strange. It reminded me of an Iranian parliament member who once had said Afghan immigrants can marry Iranians but it shouldn't make them eligible to be given equal rights to other couples'. Almost as bad.

i dont want to finance anything but i can see the benefits of having a 'normal' home and how encouraging it is beneficial for the economy and society as a whole. So if it were up to me i'd relate it to my personal experience and what i have seen, and reward parents as opposed to just couples.

Are you also against financing marriage of heterosexual couples who are sterile?

There are certain rights which are universal, there are certain that are linked to citizenship and even those you can get after a while.

i agree, but not all, and the not all comes from the fact that resources are limited and need to be budgeted and regardless of how awesome sounding a proposition is, it needs to pass that test.
