But what exactly is so wrong about gays. What harm is there?
For a Mormon, it means the end of a good chunk of their belief system. Beliefs many have about religious resurrection and how humans will be united with their life-brides and life-husbands in the afterlife.

That's why it's threatening. Because admitting homosexuality might be a preference that's outside of a human's hands or control, and that it was innate by nature, means God by design is fucking Mormons over with their religious beliefs about His grand plans for humanity in the afterlife.

It means they're living a lie. And that God is yanking their chains.

see what i mean

it is wrong because it is outside the institution of marriage, which has been a great political and economic tool, and anything out side of that was seen as a threat and was combatted
But now it's no longer outside that institution..

nah it means the end of bloodlines, end of patrimony which could have taken several generations to build, no one wants to the last of the father of last of his name and ruin what all your ancestors built

i disagree
Why? Because there is nothing practical keeping them from building families.

Well, so does the Catholic priesthood and celibacy ... going back to Pope Benedict VIII preventing the children of priests from inheriting property.

no because that institution is dead, obsolete, and the whole gay marriage thing is the last nail in the coffin, it actually showed once and for all that it's a symbolic piece of paper which means nothing outside fiscal benefits
Funnily enough I agree. Bet you didn't see that coming. I think gay marriage is forced and a decision that was not for the Supreme court to take.

Too many posts here lately (and on that other thread). But are the many religious people here talking about gays/gay rights?:help::maddy:

no i would have been surprised if it was the other way around, you as a lawyer ought to know there was no legal framework for changing the definition of marriage, the whole thing was moralistic posturing

I don't know. Civil rights cases should hardly be left to the masses. If we let the nation decide on segregation, I wouldn't be using the same bathroom as blacks.

That's like saying we use democracy for some laws, but not for other more important laws. Courts in Europe and the USA are losing sight of what they are supposed to do.

marriage is not a right
However the benefits of marriage are. So extend those to the unwed or allow everyone to marry.
