with all due respect Risa, i think the author showed a lot of courage and integrity in disposing of one of the most beloved characters in such a cruel and horrible way. It only made me like the show even more as it doesnt follow your hollywood rinse and repeat formula.

I don't agree with the rinse and repeat formula either but something about it just felt very wrong. It was a rinse and repeat of Ned's in a way; i.e. dying at the hands of cowards. George himself said that Robb's was the second death he planned, just because he knew people would expect Robb to be the hero after Ned died. He also said he that Ned was the first death he planned because people expected him to be the hero. I don't know if that is even respectful to the characters. I do agree however on the realism of having them die. I just don't know if I agree with killing them off based on people's expectations.
