And what if he is actually not good enough? Or is that impossible?
The best young player we have developped over the past 10 or more years is Marchisio. Yet he's, supposedly, not good enough to be on the team either. So the "connecting the dots" part goes both ways in this whole youth players discussion.
Well said.
Do we see ANY of our youngsters coveted by top teams??? As Buck said, Marchisio is by far the most successful, he went out on loan, played often, and came back, and has been part of our first team for a while now. At the same time as he was out on loan, so were many others, mainly for points of reference, de ceglie and giovinco. de ceglie has played a lot for us, and shown us 1-2 months of competency at left back. Giovinco, when he played for us, was always lively, but due to our strictly defensive 4-4-2 under both ranieri, and then in the mind of delneri, he was deemed too lacking in ability to defend if deployed on the left wing. Yet at PArma, he has played so well that Prandelli has made him part of the azzurri squad...yet the fact remains, he can only get first team action, seemingly, at PARMA...
As for Marchisio...I can concede, that he was played slightly out of position this season, nd i mean SLIGHTLY, as I saw him for 15 games at least, playing as one of three central midfielders. At best, his development has stunted.
Pasquato did well at Modena...and Marrone did OK at Siena...Giovinco did very well at Parma, well enough to become a regular international, although I see him as a Miccoli...but other than this?????
Sorensen was here ON LOAN...and he has no chance against Lichsteiner. Also, he has no chance against Chiellini, Bonucci and Barzagli...so when its a choice of 4th choice centreback, or 'nobody knows whether first team or sub' at bologna...its obviously better for our young viking, to go where he has a chance of first team action.
he did incredibly well when called upon last season. He has very obvious raw talent...so much raw talent, that he put an established right back (motta) to shame...
Some people, who dont understand football, see loans and co-ownerships as pure folly. I see loans and co-ownership as WE HAVE NO PRESENT PLACE IN THE FIRST TEAM FOR THE PLAYER BUT WE DONT WANT TO LOSE HIM. co-ownerships to teams far less than us, are obviously going to lead to, if the player excells, the player coming back to us...some can scream 'la formica atomica!'...but he has a stern and large ego, and i cannot criticize him for simply wanting to play serie A first team, and also la nazionale...
rather than debte more, i prefer to listen to a track a mate gave me, which i fucking love...
