Monaco were really poor...i expected Menez especially to cause Marseille some problems..but he was poor too..

How Terrible is Niang??..the guy cant score if his life depended on it.
It is weird how Monaco made a rise during the Tigana spell and reached a peak with Deschamps and directly afterwards they've become very poor. I remember the same thing happened with PSG, earlier it happened with Marseille and the oldest I remember was Saint Etienne.

Will this happen to Lyon?

Monaco sold their best players after reaching the finals..Morientes left after the end of his loan spell, Giuly left for Barca, Ibarra went back to Boca Juniors and Rothen left for PSG..i dont know about PSG and Saint Etienne as i am relatively new to the Ligue..

I dont believe the same will happen to Lyon..they are in a slump now..but once Ben Arfa and Benzema mature, Grosso gets his form back, Cris comes back from his injury and Keita integrates well with the team..i firmly believe they will be back..its just a transition imo..next season they will be back to their former self.

But Lyon has been selling starts every season and now they are left with these you mentioned who are all targets of big clubs. I don't think that they can bring in new talents each and every year. Selling this bunch might come back to haunt them.

Could be..but i for one believe the new names can successfully replace the old ones..but imo they need some time, most of them are either still too young or new in the team.

He is for me the best striker in ligue barring Benzema..excellent player..with bags of pace, physically strong and good tecnique..his finishing is really good too..we should swap him for Adebayor:D

What has happened to Le Guen? He used to be 1 of the most sought after managers and now PSG are just a mess and he cannot seem to turn things around.

They cannot win at home, they hardly score goals at all.

Incredible how 3 former giants of the league are struggling badly in psg, marseilles and monaco

Monaco has been struggling for some good time now since Didier left them. Marseilles on the other hand are still the same, since 5years now if not more.

Haha ye that's true. Elmander at Arsenal would be exciting as hell. The problem is his price tag after Euro2008 will be rather large. Not that Arsenal are poor or anything but it's just too unlike Wenger to spend a big amount of money on one player.

Swap him for Adebayor? I don't know, I rather you get rid of that lousy Dane Bendtner.

PSG have done a complete overhaul of the team this season..the likes of Pauleta, Kalou , Dhorasou , E.Cisse and Bernard Mendy have all been either benched or sold..they promoted players from their youth academy..they are building for the future and Le Guen is behind all that...Cayzac (PSG President) has said that Le Guen will be given time..and imo thats exactly what he needs..he has a good batch of youngsters..who with time hopefully will come good.

Ceara , Arnaud and Amara Diane in particular have caught my eye..

Bentdner is by no means lousy..he has impressed me in the few cameos he got..

Really? Well to me he looks clumsy and slow. I have yet to see something impressive from him but then again if he's 19 and playing for Arsenal, I guess there must be something in him.

Good game between Saint Etienne and PSG..better than the spanish classico..pretty entertaining encounter..PSG won it and continued their great away form....But i have to say they arent half as entertaining as they were last season..with Pauleta, Kalou, Gallardo, Dhorasou and Mendy.

Decent match yesterday between Marseille and Caen.

Caen were disallowed a clear cut goal when they were 1 goal up..Goufran was impressive as always..but then Marseille took hold of the game. a hatrick by Cisse and two wonderful goals by Valbuena, he's made it a habit to score those great goals..Marseille are a tough nut to crack at home..but if they dont improve their away form theres no way they can get a CL spot for next season.

Decent first half between Lorient and Bordeaux..Saifi showing off his skill as always..i'm guessing he can nick it for Lorient in the second half.

Lorient 1 - 0 Bordeaux

A penalty after a tackle on Saifi..he is such a joy to watch..the second half was a bore though.

Btw, i feel like i am the only one interested in the French Ligue..i just noticed that 90% of the posts in this thread are mine:D

I had to clean my eyes to find out that 6 goals were scored by 1 team in ligue1 cos that is normally the amount of goals scored in the whole weekend fixtures

Did you say Cisse scored a hattrick against Caen? I didnt think it was possible for a team to concede 6 against Marseilles but if PSG scores 6 in a game then Id know for sure that hell has indeed frozen over

Caen arent a bad team..but Marseille played the game of their lives..they scored from everywhere..Like i said Valbuena scored two goals that are definitely contenders for goal of the season..he has really been on fire this season..dislodging Zenden and Ziani for a first team place this year.
