    McLaren suspended for 3 races.

Edit: thats if they break the rules again.
Yes, they have apparently escaped that fate, for now...

McLaren off the hook under strict conditions

The FIA has elected not to penalise the McLaren team following today's meeting in Paris and the conclusion of the 'spygate' scandal. The governing body felt that the manner in which team principal Martin Whitmarsh delivered his information was honest, and that no instant action will be taken against the team. The English outfit will, however, be kept on a short leash for the period of a year.

The hearing at the governing body's headquarters took place in the French capital with Whitmarsh, the only representative of the Woking-based team, attending with support from neither team members nor legal representatives. The World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) hearing follows the situation in which former team manager Dave Ryan lied to race stewards at the Australian Grand Prix, leading to the penalisation and effective fraud of the Toyota team, which temporarily lost third position plus awards for the result.

With McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton since disqualified and Jarno Trulli reclaiming the position, the FIA heard Whitmarsh's view of events on Wednesday and released the following statement:

"Having regard to the open and honest way in which McLaren Team Principal, Mr Martin Whitmarsh, addressed the WMSC and the change in culture which he made clear has taken place in his organisation, the WMSC decided to suspend the application of the penalty it deems appropriate."

The penalty in question is a three race ban which will be applied in the event of 'further facts emerging from the case or if, in the next 12 months, there is a 'further breach by the team of article 151c of the International Sporting Code'.

The FIA will be releasing full reasons for its decision in due course...

I'm afraid they will keep "escaping" with their cheating.

    - Two years ago they stole from technology from Ferrari and all they got was a slap on their hand.
    - Last year, Timo Glock :mute:
    - This season, this.

And more to come from the filthy team.

FIA tries every game to change the rules in order to help the smaller teams and make the sport a bit more competitive and interesting.
But, those change have been too effective this year!

Watching Brawn dominating that much, can also become boring...

Jesus, you folks are crying after 5 races in a season. Imagine how the rest felt when Ferrari were dominating for 5 years. I think this is all good, more competitive teams, more interesting races.

Ferrari's got more problems than just the ones caused by FIA, mostly sucky drivers and a poor techincal team compaired to the past and figures like Todt and Brawn. Wait for next year, Alonso will be your saviour.

I m not crying and def not for Ferrari.
All the competitive teams have disappeared within a day and thats not normal.
At least for such kind of sport.
If it was only Ferrari OR Mclaren, that wouldnt have sound so suspicious.
But the way it happened is just... abnormal...

For years i wished that the rest of the teams would become more competitive and slip through between them, but what happened cancels everything we have seen from F1, for the past decades!

There was no leap in tech to justify that, just some rules and some "windows".
