He had to leave it in order to even be considered for a place at the World Cup to begin with.

Don't blame Beckham for the poor quality of the MLS. And he didn't "leave" them. He's on loan. And playing a lot more football than a 35 year old should be playing.

I wish there were a lot more players like him who would do whatever it takes to represent their country.

He tore his Achilles tendon. He's done. there is no way he can make it in time, and that's too bad. He really wanted to play.

But the underlying tone of some people here that are actually happy that someone is injured is really sickening
Well said. He lives and breaths football and loves his national team. It is a real shame. And shame on those who laugh at another's pain.

That was just a whisker onside, no surprise that the assistant got that one wrong.

 Must be nice in your world.

With the terrible over aged and mediocre squad they have. They should be behind Inter, Roma, Juve and Fiorentina. Yet they are in the title race and only 1 point behind Inter. It must be thrilling to be in the world of a Milan fan actually.

oh big deal he misses the world cup, id still trade places with him in a heartbeat, some miserable life these footballers lead...
As do most of those living in war torn, oppressed so called 3rd world countries, who gladly exchange with their 1st world brothers.

His feelings are honarable and genuine, so I do indeed have great empathy for his pain.
