Guidolin apologises to Lazio
Thursday 24 September, 2009
Francesco Guidolin has apologised to Lazio after his Parma side scored while one of their players was down injured.
Roberto Baronio was clearly hurt as Parma started a move that ultimately carried them into the lead.
The incident had a great impact on the game as the Gialloblu eventually ran out 2-1 winners.
“I saw the man on the ground and I shouted at my players to kick the ball out of bounds, but they didn't hear me,” Guidolin explained.
“I hadn't wanted to score like that. [Damiano] Zenoni didn't realise and we went ahead. I espoused fair play many years ago, but I have faith in my lads and I clarified with them that it shouldn't happen anymore.
“I wouldn't even have come out for the second half had I thought bad of them,” Guidolin added.
Looking on the bright side, newly promoted Parma are now fourth in Serie A after the opening five games.
“We still have to grow. We should have closed the game down earlier, but we are newly promoted. We're satisfied because we dominated the game,” Guidolin said.
The evening was a particular success because Guidolin managed to rest a number of players ahead of this weekend's fixtures.
“Who knows what you would have said if we had lost. I have a big group of players, composed of youngsters and veterans. I have to give them confidence, and I did just that this evening.
“I gave Panucci, Paloschi and Biabiany a rest, but what counts is the great desire we have to do well. We have the spirit of a newly promoted side, but also the desire of one that wants to have a season without suffering,” Guidolin concluded.
Parma are back in action on Sunday when they host Cagliari who beat Bari 1-0 last night.

I am a big fan of Guidolin for years, he takes a shitty team like Parma and look what he is doing already:
Lazio - Parma 1-2
Parma - Palermo 1-0
Inter - Parma 2-0
Parma - Catania 2-1
Udinese - Parma 2-2
AMAZING!!! I can't understand why a manager like Guidolin never takes a proper job at big clubs, I hope I see him someday with Juve!
