OFFICIAL: ATALANTA HIRE CONTE

Atalanta have pulled off a shock move, not so much by firing Angelo Gregucci, but by hiring Antonio Conte in his place.

The knives were out for Gregucci after he suffered his fourth straight defeat since taking over from Gigi Del Neri this summer.

All the money was on either Daniele Arrigoni or Mario Beretta replacing him, but Atalanta have surprised everybody by luring Conte.

The man who led Bari back to the top flight earlier this summer was linked with the Juventus job when Claudio Ranieri got the boot.

He lost out to Ciro Ferrara and then resigned from his position with Bari.

Conte earned quite a name for himself while at the helm of the Galletti, playing thrilling attacking football, often lining his team up in a 4-2-4.

However, he is unproven at this level, but Bergamo is very excited about his appointment.

Wishing good luck to our homeboy :pint:

I know, but Cassano has been playing the support striker role all his life. I even remember him play as a lone striker on some matches for Roma and Italy.
Cassano in Juve will play the very same position Del Piero occupies. It's not gonna be a lone striker formation (like it was with Milan when Seedorf and Kaka played behind Inzaghi), it will simply be a 4-3-1-2.
Del Piero-Trez is no different than Cassano-Striker.
Or even better comparison ....when Zidane was behind Del Piero-Inzaghi...tactically it's no different with Diego behind Cassano-Striker.
Wow wow wow wow wow. :scarf: What about Edin Džeko to fill in that poacher roll?

that is another story, i agree ... someone very creative as second striker would bind a centre back and still be great, but hey ... it's not as if we never had that situation ...

diego- AMF
cassano - SS
poacher

is pretty much the same as

zidane - AMF
Del Piero - SS
Bippo Inzagi - Poacher

and remember we did not win everything like we was supposed to
We were very unlucky.

Apparently Eto'o is demanding 15% of his transfer fee from Barcelona, will somebody with superior football knowledge enlighten me as to what rules entitle him to this?
