Mou: Carlo, Ibra and perfect calamari
Sunday 13 September, 2009
Jose Mourinho talks Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Juventus, Carlo Ancelotti and calamari. “He can never beat my record!”

It is no secret the two tacticians do not get along and so taking over at Stamford Bridge with a 100 per cent record so far this season was bound to spark controversy.

“He may have beaten my record of opening victories in the Premier League with Chelsea, but he can never beat my record. I won the title in England after 55 years with that club,” snapped the Special One.

Mourinho was asked to comment on last night's Juventus win at Lazio, which saw Stefano Mauri's goal controversially disallowed.

“I only saw the game up until that point, as there was a plate of calamari waiting for me,” insisted the Inter boss.

“It was a lovely dinner with my staff. I don't want to answer any questions about rivalry or hear any comments from the Juventus camp. Ask me something else or I'll leave.”

On Wednesday he will welcome Zlatan Ibrahimovic to San Siro in the Champions League, where the Barcelona striker expects a frosty reception from fans.

“I will welcome him with a big hug, but I can't know how the fans will react. I will hug him before kick-off, but for the next 90 minutes I don't even want to know his name.

“We will be opponents, but I do not feel betrayed. Thanks to him we are the reigning champions of Italy.”

The Swede scored for Barcelona this weekend and Mourinho raised eyebrows when he declared Samuel Eto'o is the best forward in football.

“I cannot forget a player like Ibra, but I always say the players in my team are the best in the world. I'm happy he is doing well in Spain, but I am above all happy with my strikers.”

well they have guys like Sculli, Crespo, Floccari, Kharja, Rodrigo Palacio :)delpiero:) and Palladino (I think) as their FW options...any Italian midtable side would kill to have those players in their lineup

Just saw the first half last night and i was very impressed by the team as a whole and especially Floccari. Also credit goes to Gasperini who seems to know a thing or two as well.

well we play them a in couple of matchdays if am not mistaken, so it could be the toughest test ( even a battle for top spot and the unbeaten run)

i don't think they have the quality at depth which is necessary to have a strong campaign

They might be a better team than last year, despite losing Milito and Thiago Motta.

Genoa is no joke, and they play a good brand of football. I've been pretty impressed with their performances. And let's face it, they have a really good coach and stable ownership. To me, that is a team that you would want to see do well.

An orginization that is run the right way

yes, spend money to replace a bench player
I never said we had to buy anybody world class. If we have a team competing in the Serie A and CL and we want to be serious contenders for both we need to have reliable bench players also. Bench players are part of the team as well and considering the rate our players get injured there's nothing ridiculous about strengthening our squad's depth. And as for Genoa they don't have the depth to challenge Inter and Juve for the Scudetto but they are the team with the best chance of pulling off a shock 4th place finish

you're stating it as if Poulsen is a bag of shit...he may not be WC, but he is a damn good player, we just haven't seen it yet...and if you know Juve, you would know that we for the most part make WC players, not buy them...I daresay the top teams qould be quietly jealous to see an excellent player like Poulsen on the Juve bench

as for Genoa, they can't go all the way, but they are the team that take points off you at crucial times in the season, and we have to be very careful against them, especially with that much attacking talent

Who do you suggest we replace Poulsen with then?

We play them 2 rounds from now, in only 9 days.

Our schedule will be very tricky now:

15 Sep - H Bordeaux
20 Sep - H Livorno
23 Sep - A Genoa
27 Sep - H Bologna
30 Sep - A Bayern
4 Oct - A Palermo

The tricky part is that we'll have 6 matches in the next 19 days. Add the Lazio match and the 2 matches most of our players played for their NT's and you have a problem and risk of injuries due to fatigue.
Luckily it's the start of the season so i expect our players not to suffer too much from this schedule.

That's part and parcel of being a top team engaged in the CL.

Sink or swim.

I think, however, it is not too exacting.
