What? No way man. Before these last two seasons De Rossi had a more offensive role almost ala Lampard (with different styles and attributes of course) but in due course he converted to a much more defensive midfielder. He has held down the fort alone and contributes in every area on the pitch. De Rossi is a monster and few midfielders are as complete and have as much quality as he has.
He's one of my favorite midfielders but I don't really think he did anything special. I agree he'd do better with better team mates since Pizarro can't help him much. He might play a bit more defensive role but he was so much better before imo.

I bet it's over 2 million euros.. What a disaster this transfer was!
It was a disaster indeed.
But if we didn't terminate his contract we'd have to pay 4m eur yearly till the end of his contract (which is actually 2010, so only 1 year).
I'm not sure but i think we saved some money by terminating his contract, compared to the money we were going to pay for him if we didn't terminate the contract.

Thank you, good piece of information from you as usual.

When was the last year we made a profit from our transfers? It must have been the Calciopoli summer right?
Yes.
That summer we sold players for +80m eur and we bought only Boumsong for less than 5m eur. After that we spend more on new players than what we get from the sales.

Of course, but that if we really paid 2 million, and not more.

doesn't he own some part of our club
He sold all his shares after Calciopoli.

As for Ranieri to Roma, we can do great deals with them in the future, Mexes for Legro and Poulsen for DDR. Such a shame we sold Marchionni to Fiorentina, we could have sent him to Roma and got Vucinic instead.

I'd rather keep Legro.

I'm very curious as to how Ranieri will do at Roma. I think he's probably a pretty good short-term coach, but I don't know if he's going to do much for them in the long term

I don't think anyone would do good with Roma's team. They don't need a new coach, they need a new owner.
:agree: Almost so much this was close to a "Capt. Obvious" post. ;)

Spalletti "resigned", Sensi appointed Ranieri. It'll turn to be a good choice for Roma, you heard it here first.
Because Ranieri knows a thing or two about helping a dying club avoid relegation? Yes. That will make him a good choice.

Call it payback for stealing Capello from them. :D

I really do feel for Spalletti. He has been one of my favorite coaches over the last 5 years, and Roma basically left him holding the bag.
Spalletti's only mistake was in not recognizing when to run to the lifeboats when the AS Roma was taking in water. Someone of his talents should hopefully find another good role soon. He deserves a better club than Roma right now.

15 million for fresh water? :wth:

on a serious note, are they morons? seriously. Why do they count it this way, or do they love to pay loads of taxes? Milito for 15mil freshawater for 5mil, wouldn't that save loads of taxes?
 first question jumped on my head after i saw this list... why on earth 15mil for him that's stupid ...

Can't wait for the first fued between Totti and Tinkerman.
It was reported that Spalletti resigned after a heated argument with totti which added more to it.
