If Rosella Sensi really wanted to do right by the supporters and the history of that club, she would have sold them already to George Soros.

To me, she's got it stuck in her head that she is carrying on the tradition of her father. As much of a whiner and complainer that Franco Sensi was, even he would have known at this point to give up the ghost, and sell the team already.

They have the infrastructure in place to be extremely successful, if only they would sell the club to someone who would invest in it.

Was the sale to Soros blocked because he is a foreigner?
Sensi is just being stubborn.

Regardless of what has been said in the media, I don't think she has seriously considered any of the offers or parties that have shown an interest.

They way this is going, they might need to sell De Rossi for big bucks next summer.
It wouldn't surprise me at all.

They would probably sell Mexes and/or Vucinic before they would sell De Rossi, though.

Because Ranieri knows a thing or two about helping a dying club avoid relegation? Yes. That will make him a good choice.

Call it payback for stealing Capello from them. :D
He'll improve their defensive play, they have a decent defence and DMs and Spalletti is the main person responsible for their underperforming as a unit. They obiously can't match Juventus or Inter, but they don't aim for scudetto as well and Ranieri is not a coach who'll aim for that, but definitely is capable of achieving a CL spot with players at his disposal, as they aren't personally weaker than Genoa or Fiorentina. And Ranieri's tactis will also help us probably, because we got our 3 points from them already, but we won't see Inter thrashing them as usual, a draw after seeing a defensive Roma would be nice.

Not fair on Luciano. Spalletti wanted better names, they were linked with RVN, who turned them down, some other names named but Roma couldnt afford them, going for players like Burdisso is proving the point. Your saying this as if Spalletti area was bad for Roma. I think many overrate this current Roma. Injury prone Totti, flops like Baptista and Menez. They will play a dull 4-4-2, more defensive but dont expect fireworks, Sensi dictating the transfer money, low budget.

I don't deny it but still I don't think also that they are weaker than the teams mentioned, contenders for 4-3 spot in Serie A. But I'm sure Spalletti is overrated a lot more than this Roma.

Spalletti: 'Why I quit Roma'
Wednesday 2 September, 2009
Luciano Spalletti has explained the reasons behind his resignation and wishes Claudio Ranieri the best on the Roma bench.

“I think my resignation was the right thing to do. It was my own initiative, that way I took my share of the responsibility,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

The Giallorossi have had their worst start since the 1950s with two consecutive Serie A defeats, but he quit rather than waited to be fired so that he gave up two seasons’ worth of wages, as his contract expires in 2011.

“The last two results were certainly decisive, but in any case at the start of the season I had already met with President [Rosella] Sensi to clarify some matters and I’d realised I would have to take more responsibility on many fronts.”

This was Spalletti’s fifth season at the Olimpico and he appeared moved as he took away his belongings from the Trigoria training ground.

“I leave behind many memories and if I have to pinpoint specific games, then the ones against Chelsea and Real Madrid stick in my mind.

“Another thing I’ll hold in my heart is the club anthem sung by the entire stadium, the people who feel so close to this side. I will always sing it too. I’ll continue to follow Roma’s progress under a great Coach like Ranieri.”

Ranieri puts pen to paper on a two-year contract today and Spalletti generously wishes him all the best.

“Ranieri can be safe in the knowledge he has a good squad. Aside from the fact I assume he has seen what happened in these two games, being a Romanista from this city, he will be up to date and know the Giallorossi have not played badly.

“In my view we did very well against Genoa, while we must recognise Juventus were superior over the 90 minutes, but there were two or three incidents that could have put Roma ahead.”

However, Spalletti did hint there were personality clashes with captain Francesco Totti towards the end of his reign.

“You have to look at the numbers and how well this team and Totti individually have done in the four years.

“Then if there isn’t great unity, both individually and at a collective level with the staff, me and the directors on a professional and human level, then it’s very difficult to achieve these results.

“These are results that will remain in the history of Roma. As for all the rest, that’s just talk.”

The Coach has been linked with the job at Zenit St Petersburg from January and left the door open for that possibility.

“I will dedicate more time to my family and then certainly start travelling the world. There are many great tacticians out there and I want to be informed on the new working methods and technology.”

It's pretty obvious to me that Spalletti was awaiting Juventus bench during Summer time, but....

Roma are not suited for the 4-4-2. They don't have good players on the LW & RW
De rossi isn't going be effective offensively under the tinker man, because I'm 100% sure that he's going to let stay deep in the midfield and just give him mainly defensive assignment

I'm glad Spalletti didn't get the job. Giving in it to Ferrera made more sense, because he knows the meaning of the juve jersey. Also he learned from lippi. I guarantee you that lippi & ferrera are always on phone and the old man is giving ciro some advises in an indirect way.
