He's got no chance at all to win the ballon d'or in 2009. This one will go to someone from Barca, probably Messi.
In 2010 the ballon d'or will surely be won by someone who shines at the WC and probably by someone from the WC winning team . For decades it's been like that (Cannavaro in 2006, Ronaldo in 2002, Zidane in 1998, Stoichkov in 1994, Matthaus in 1990).
Sweden won't qualify for the WC and even if they do it by some miracle, they won't win it for sure.

This leaves 2011 as the earliest Zlatan could win ballon d'or. He'll be 30 then and not only that he'll need to have a brilliant season, but his team will also need to win some trophies.

He'll never win ballon d'or :D
There is his chance right there, Bulgaria didn't win the WC and wasn't Stoichkov in Barca that year as well ? If he can have the same impact as Hristo then i think he will come close at least.

but this will be the reasoning in his mind, he would never win the balon d'or at Inter but his chances increase dramatically as a Barca player, whether he ever does or not....well lest all hope not

Barca losing the CL final to Juve and Sweden reaching the semi final?

I don't hate barca as much as you do but I would love for the first part to happen. I still give shit to my Barca mates about the last game and beating them with Ibra makes even better.

I don't really care about Sweden making that semi final :D

The Barca team that won the CL last year is much much likeable than the previous teams that I dislike though.

Yes, but Stoichkov shone at the WC (topscorer) so it was the main reason why he won the ballon d'or.

Actually, the main reason why he won the ballon d'or was because until 1995 only European players were allowed to win it, so Romario (or someone else from Brazil) didn't have an opportunity to win it that year.

Another thing, why do we need to have the word "official" in every player's thread name? I mean we all know that every player has his thread and that's where we talk about that player. I just think simple "The Diego Thread" could do. Let's make this place elegant :D

Better players or better transfers?

If you think that they were better players than i guess you can say so, especially about Ronaldo, if you think they were more useful than Zlatan, then it's debatable and i actually disagree.
But were they better transfers overall?
Economically, i don't think so. Vieri was bought for a world record transfer at the time iirc (more than 50m eur i think), he won nothing with Inter, and left as a free transfer.
Ronaldo was the same as Vieri.

Zlatan brings them huge profit and he was their best player during the time he was there. The time when Inter were actually winning something for change.
veiri and ronaldo played in a more competitive serie a era. Ibra played in the chump version of serie a. Also J.Zanneti was a better buy than ibra too

It may seem redundant, but believe me -- some posters can barely hold a spoon without help to prevent them from falling face-down in a bowl of soup and drowning. :shifty:

The late matches next season will start at 20.45 CET instead of the famous 20.30 CET

The kickoff for the Saturday afternoon game is still at 18.00 CET and the Sunday fixtures as usual at 15.00 CET

The draw for next season's fixtures is done tomorrow evening.

I think Serie A will do well in the CL this season.

Inter will be better with Eto as they will not run their offense entirely through Ibra. It will be harder to stop them. Plus Ibra does not score in CL after the group games.

Eto-Milito will be much better for them and if they play Helb on the flanks with Balotelli or Quaresma/Mancini on the other they can do decent.

As for us we will have Diego a great passer and goal scoring mid and an extremly strong midfield and set of strikers. Good things will happen for us I feel
