Great piece of business from Moratti IMO. No matter how long Ibra would've stayed in that club they won't win in europe thats just the reallity of the situation.

I just don't buy this whole mumbo jumbo bullshit about Inter being such a great team. If not for the calciopoli (juve relegation) + milan and Roma and the rest of the league being so weak financially in the past few years we wouldn't have seen Inter dominate in serie A its as simple as that.

That is true but the outcome of Calciopoli made them a great team.

"I was thinking if Zlatan Ibrahimovic was Inter's best transfer, at least in the last 20 years."

have to disagree there alen, both veiri and ronaldo wee better in my opinion.
yeah

for US:juventus:

Well, they changed their manager after delivering two Scudetti in a row and turned out successful. Sometimes you have to change a winning formula to keep on winning.

I think Milan should have let Ancelotti go long before, when they were on top. Sometimes the winning elements stop delivering.
i agree to a degree with what jack says here, you either need a brave manager who will ring the changes and sometimes sell top players in order to regenerate a team, or you need a change of manager to keep the squad on their toes. when a manager is in position too long and relies on the same old players even when they are past their peak, that is when trouble starts and the decline kicks in.
that is where Sir Alex has been succesful, he has replaced Cantona, Beckham, Van Nistelrooy, etc when the fans thought it was the end of their winning teams. time will tell if they will move on after ronaldo but with the possible exceptions of Stam and Keane, manure have always found someone to appease the fans and improve their team

Better players or better transfers?

If you think that they were better players than i guess you can say so, especially about Ronaldo, if you think they were more useful than Zlatan, then it's debatable and i actually disagree.
But were they better transfers overall?
Economically, i don't think so. Vieri was bought for a world record transfer at the time iirc (more than 50m eur i think), he won nothing with Inter, and left as a free transfer.
Ronaldo was the same as Vieri.

Zlatan brings them huge profit and he was their best player during the time he was there. The time when Inter were actually winning something for change.

In the press conference yesterday he said the following:

I will say something that no one has heard before. Three months ago I told Moratti that only one club can buy me. And this club is Barcelona.

He said a lot of bullshit in the press conference. He was asked about what is he expecting to do in Spain after he has won the Capocannoniere, to which he answered:

When I win something I want to win it again, I scored 25 goals in the league last season, I will score more next season but I will not say how much.

This might be true. Reports say that he's taking a pay-cut so it looks like he didn't leave for more money. He probably made the decision to leave during the season and Barcelona was his choice.

    Emerson leaves Milan
    Tuesday 28 July, 2009
Brazilian club Santos have announced the signing of Emerson who leaves Milan by mutual consent after two unhappy years in Rossonero.

The 33-year-old has been a disappointment since joining from Real Madrid in 2007, making just 27 appearances for the club.

He had hoped for a move to Grêmio where he started his career, but the Imortal didn't come forward with an offer.

Santos showed the most interest with new manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo making a particular effort to sign him.

“There were other interested clubs, but Emerson preferred Santos for the long-term project of Luxemburgo and the central role he will have in the squad,” Adilson Durante, Santos' director of sport, told Il Corriere dello Sport.

Emerson had a very successful playing career before things came to a standstill with Milan.

'The Puma' won the Scudetto with Roma in 2001 and another with Juventus in 2005, which was controversially revoked after the Calciopoli scandal.

He moved to Real Madrid in the summer of 2006 and won La Liga at the first attempt.

He's right though. When you score 25 goals in a team like Inter, you'll sure be able to score as much for a team like Barcelona. Spanish league is way less defensive and the teams are not as solid as Italian teams in defense. Ibra has been brought to Barca to do what Eto'o was best at. Zlatan is sure a better player than Eto'o but not for a team like Barcelona and not for that amount of money.

Zlatan first needs to adapt himself to the new league, new team and new atmosphere and it won't be easy IMO. It took almost a season for a player like Henry and even then, he never became half the player he was for Arsenal. This is why I don't consider this a wise and sensible purchase for Barca. Even if Zlatan succeeds to score lots of goals for them, it still won't nullify the fact that Barca have lavished over him.
