I just remember hearing all sorts of adoration about Nesta on these forums from people who weren't watching him play. Then come the weekend I would see him make disastrous backpasses, blow his mark, whiff at clearance kicks, and head the ball up in dangerous places and think, "Uh, what happened to this guy? He used to be good. Great even."

I'm definitely harsh on Mexes. But I still don't think he is "Juve material".

Nesta was great for a number of years and I consider him one of the best defenders of his generation, but I agree he hasn't got close to his former level in recent years.

This season is pretty tough for him, though, as he has to be pretty much a one man defence for Milan.

Mexes is extremely overrated, because he constantly gets away with clownish and headless errors that you would expect from Burdisso, but still have a rep of being the "next Nesta". Its ridicolous. And also funny because Ranieri benched him for a while for Burdisso for underperforming

You just haven't liked me since I ripped on Diego. Believe or not I like Maradona a lot I just think he has turned himself into somewhat of a joke recently. But I do respect him, he is the greatest football player, even Pele does not come close

I never said Nesta never had a bad season. In fact he was below his high standards during times that you previously mentioned but comparing him to Boumsong and calling him one of Serie A's worst defenders is ridiculous. A poor form Nesta is still better than most starting Serie A defenders. And yes I did watch him play quite often over the past few years

Mexes is a good defender but he is highly overrated IMO, I wouldn't want him at Juve unless he was a backup
