Nice to see the knee jerk reactionists taking full advantage of the occasion.

Messi is a choker

Messi is predictable.

Can't we just say he was stopped by a team that defended extremely well and were tactically superior to Barcelona?

Does Messi have to toy with defenders in every and each game so he proves to people how good he is?

Inter were simply brilliant today, no player in Messi's place would have played a better game.
Not even Maradona?

No player in Messi's place would have helped Barca win this game, that's probably right but many would have played a better game. He was really bad tonight as he was really bad against Chelsea last season.

I was talking about current players.

Obviously games like today's game and last seasons game against Chelsea, shows why Maradona is so superior to Messi. I'm in the Zidane >> Messi camp too btw.
Everybody should be in that camp right now, but again Messi is still young. He might take his game higher.

Who would have played a better game?

Please don't say Ronaldo, because Ronaldo has played worse games against teams who have man marked him with only one player and not three.

Overreaction to a great game against a not very good Arsenal defense

Tonight, like last week, I saw a team know how to defend Messi, not that thing they call in Spain where they gaze into his eyes as he runs around them. I'm not dissing him, but the whole world is getting far too excited over a 22 year old.

Argentina must really hope Cambiasso goes to the WC.

not sure maradona would want to play a system with "one" dimensional midfielder, i think he tried him a couple of times he always preferred 5's that can pass too.

I think some of you are over critisizing Messi a bit. He wasn't effective in the first match but he drew fouls and provided Barca's assist tonight. He also had one of Barca's better opportunities in the first half than played a great ball over the top that Bojan should have finished. He wasn't brilliant but he was selected as the main danger by one of Europe's best defenses and still left his mark.

This wasn't vintage Messi but I wouldn't label a choker based on tonight.

Indeed, judging the circumstances he wasn't as bad as people make him out to be, he was pretty bad though.

I mean at least in the squad, just an incredible option to have as a backup for Mascherano (or the reverse). I think his technique is good, he's not hopeless when making a pass from a variety of ranges.
