MALOUDA ADMITS REDS ADMIRATION

France winger Florent Malouda has described Liverpool as a "great club", increasing speculation the Lyon player could make the switch to Anfield.

The 27-year-old is one of a number of reported targets for Reds boss Rafael Benitez in a summer overhaul, although he has also been linked with Chelsea, Juventus and AC Milan.

"There has been contact with Liverpool, although I don't know as yet if they have shown their interest directly to Lyon," reports The Sun.

"People make their decisions based on the different leagues in different countries but I would rather decide based on the club. And Liverpool, why not? It is a great club."

we could really do with malouda, hes an absolutely world class player and hes proved that this season by being voted the french player of the year, if we dont move quick we'll get caught short but at the same time i think we should concentrate on the CB and CM departments before looking at wingers... we really need to start making moves now, we cant rebuild our team in just 60 days :disagree:

That wouldn't be a bad idea, although i love camo and he is somewhat better than malouda..however i still think juve should increase the wages of our stars, especially those who were willing to stay with us in serie B,i mean how much does camo want anyway.?but malouda is also great..

There is a difference between good defensively and being boring. Liverpool are well organised and solid in defense but they are usually OK to watch in the Premiership (except against Chelski) but thier CL games tend to be pretty tedious.

A player won't think about whether a team is boring but they will look at whether they will fit into the clubs system.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed he is waiting on a call from an unnamed English club regarding the possible transfer of Florent Malouda.

The France international has previously claimed that both Chelsea and Liverpool have shown their interest, and Lyon now expect further developments in the coming hours.

Malouda has stated his desire to leave Stade Gerland in the summer in search of a new challenge abroad, but Aulas has underlined any potential suitors must match Lyon's asking price.

"About Florent, his transfer fee remains at €25million (£17million)," Aulas told L'Equipe.

"Maybe we will have some news on Tuesday as an English club has to call me soon."

Whilst Malouda looks set to leave Lyon, the French champions are playing hardball over Barcelona target Eric Abidal and now hope the left-back will stay at the club.

Lyon have rejected one offer from the Catalans and Aulas claims the situation is now closed.

The Lyon supremo is also confident of keeping goalkeeper Gregory Coupet - who had previously indicated he could seek out a new challenge.

"About Eric, the door has been closed after Barcelona's proposition," Aulas added.

"Greg will leave on Wednesday for holiday, I have a good hope he will give his final answer before, as we have satisfied almost every one of his wishes."

A bit pricey, no?

because they are a massive club and they are not exactly boring, if you look at it like that why would anyone want to play for us? were hardly the most attractive team to watch
Yes we are.

But really, who the hell wants to play for Liverpool... Yay, you'll be delivering balls for Crouch, Bellamy, Kuyt and Fowler. Now isn't that a dream come true.
