My vote is for Deco. While this is an award for an individual player, for the past few years the message that teams matter more than players has been clobbered over our heads. (Read: Porto vs. Real Madrid, Greece vs. France, etc.).
Being a great player isn't just about what you do, it's also about getting the best out of your teammates. Otherwise, selfish clowns who have great personal achievements without supporting their teams much, or at their team's expense (e.g., shooting instead of passing, etc.), should get the award. Which would nominate most of AS Roma so far this season.
Of all the players listed, Deco was instrumental to his team's success at the club level, and his club succeeded about as well as any club could. At the international level, he left a bit to be desired ... but he fared as good or better than most everyone on the list internationally save for maybe Neddy, Rooney, Adriano, Larsson, and Lampard. (Baros? Five goals does not make a season.) And of those, only Lampard comes close to having a similar level of club success last season -- and Chelsea didn't win squat.
